Consecutive pregnancies ???

I'm just curious...When it comes to consecutive pregnancies and labour they say that for example you feel movement of the bub earlier in say your 2nd or 3rd preg than your 1st, and labour with your first bub may be longer than the 2nd or 3rd.

What I'm wondering is, I'm pg with my 3rd bub, but there's a 15yr gap between this bub and my last...So after this long between pregs and labour is it like starting all over again? Or will my body remember I've done it before lol???

No I dont think so. If youve had 2 vaginal births before and this is your third, it will quite possibly be a quicker labour, and you may feel flutters earlier too.

I have no idea about the labours and births but my sister had a 5 year gap and her Ob (who is the head of the AMA) told her that going 5 years and longer between pregs is like having your first baby all over again.

Yeah, apparently that if it has been quite sometime between pg's that labour can be just as long, or longer than your first one, like you've never done it before, but there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to giving birth - even if you have them close together there is no guarantee that you will have quicker and easier births with each one. As for movements, well there can be some truth to that as your uterus is a lot stretchier with each pregnancy. I felt movements at 18wks, 16wks, 14wks and 13wks with mine. Mind you even though I felt it quite early with my last two pg's it was few and far between, maybe feeling it once a week till 16wks when I got regular and noticeable movements. Again this will be impacted by where your placenta is - if you have an anterior placenta you wont feel movements till the baby is quite big usually.

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules - no one would agree that my 2nd (12 years after the 1st) would be any faster.

BUT it was by 30mins, making it 4 hrs and the third (20 months after that) was 2/12 hrs :lol:

I agree with with you Lulu and Trillion about no hard and fast rules but had heard along the way that the longer in between the more it was like doing it again for the time so I was curious to see what others thought or had heard.

Trillion as for the movements I felt flutters much earlier with my first (around 16wks) than with my second where I didn't feel anything until about 20wks, this ones been kicking away so I can feel it for a few weeks now so it definitely has been all over the place in that area for me, I just used that as an example really for the question...and I do tend to ramble:lol::lol:
