Do they x-ray possibly broken bones at Casualty?

Dramas this evening, DD1 hurt her arm skating late yesterday afternoon. Seemed ok and she can still turn her wrist, full movement etc in hand, no swelling, bruising, etc. She slept on it last night - ok thru night- didn't wake from pain or anything, told me it was sore this morning but she felt better than yesterday.

FF to this evening. DD1 arrives home from OSHC brandishing a pink note, apparently she went to office and they bandaged it for her...texted me on my mobile (WTF? Why didn't school ring me at home address where I have been sitting all day & could have picked her up & had it seen to in daylight hours!!!)

Anyway it's now nearly 6 and they've skated off to the GPs to be seen in the dying moments before they close. Just not sure what will happen after that. I'm pretty sure Dr will say "needs xray" which we have neither the funds for nor the time since I'm supposed to be going off for chemo tmrw which pretty much takes the entire day. So, if they go up to Casualty tonight is there *any chance at all* that they will do an xray, or will it be a case of sitting around for 4 hours only to be told to come back in the morning to some sort of clinic???

*deep breath* Given DD's tendency to dramatise on minor injuries, I have no idea whether this is all a beat-up or whether there is a genuine injury or not. Obviously I don't mind caring for her physical wellbeing but i could do without the accompanying drama!!!

All night long though, cos I'm imagining she'll be triaged way down the bottom of the list since she's pretty much functional but complaining, kwim?

All big hossys have radiographers who work overnight MD.

Yep I've seen them for chest xrays in the middle of the night, Ange (in my gallstone glory days)...just not sure if a maybe-possibly not broken arm rates a mention at that time?

Hope she is ok.

That was one of the advantages of doing radiography as opposed to nuc med, there is a lot more shift work and the opportunity to do evening work.

Nah, anything that needs an x-ray. Radigoraphers sit around watching TV, surfing the net waiting for someone to x-ray. They don't have to call them in especially IYKWIM. II would have thought they would do it tonight. Especially if DH lets them know you have chemo tomorrow and can't come back.

Righto, I'll volunteer him to go and sit up there and be bored. I've spent more than enough time in that ER already :lol:

All good on DD1 front- Dr thinks if it's fractured it's only a greenstick so could probably choose not to do anything. But has written a bulk-bill x-ray request. Just as well, that particular company has had more than it's share of imagery-income out of me in the last 12 months LOL. Anyway, DD1 feels vindicated because the dr put a bandage on her arm and has *stopped complaining* :). I feel vindicated because it's no where near as bad as her hysterical imaginings would have us believe. And DH feels vindicated because he's been nagging her not to scoot around on her wheelies and now he can say "I told you so" and insist that she wear wrist guards in future. LOL

i agree the sms thing is appalling..
