Constant cold:(
Olive has had a cough for a couple od months now on and off. I have taken her to the doc's a couple of times but they all just fob me off. One told me a couple of weeks ago that she could have reflux but she has never been a spewer at all. Her nose is really quite green atm and she has been coughing mainly at night and in the morning. One of my work collegues has just been diagonsed with whooping cough so i'm worried about that but more just feel sorry for Olive that she is so constantly sick, must be so annoying. I have taken her off all dairy and soy which seemed to make a difference in the beginning but she now has another cold. She is in childcare 2 days per week. Do you think I should just leave it or go back and get her checked again?
TIA

could it be allergies or asthma?

green means infection. I'd take her back to the Dr and just stand your ground and say you want something done. It's not fair that she's been sick for so long (no reflection on you :)) If it was me I'd take her our of daycare for a while if you can??? She might benifit from some time at home to get better.

My DD had a nasty cold a few months ago and it took 6 or so weeks for the cough to fully go. In the meantime she got another cold and we started all over again.
In their first year babies average about 7 colds a year...so maybe your DD is just having a rough time of it?
The doctor probably didn't mean to fob you off, but even they recognise they can't do a lot for a cold, except help re-assure you when its nothing more serious. Did they listen to her chest?
When you say she has green snot, is it streaming, or just the dry stuff, because my DD has that all the time!

Squidipa - -Well I thought it was allergies to dairy as Olive got really raspy when I introduced formula and when I was bfing I found that if I had a big milky drink it would make her really unsettled. Also dh was lactose intolerant as a baby and had asthma. Maybe I should get an allergy test?
rustygirl - I can't really take much time out to give Olive a break from daycare as i'm working.
Anna - her snot is streaming and she is sneezing alot as well.
Thanks for your replies

I wouldn't be suprised as she's in childcare. Mine have all been sick for the first year after they start chidcare... not good.
DS had bronchiolitis last month and JUST this week his cough was improving so much, and then today he's woken with blocked nose, sneezing and cough...................GGGGRRRR. Id' say it's that time of year. I'd also say you are best to get checked as a green nose may need ab's. As for whooping cough it is usually a cold first then followed by coughing that may not have the whoop, but it will be big cough fits and baby will often vomit after. How old is Olive? Has she had her shots/ The likelihood is much less even after one shot.
Hope she's better soon xo
