Hello, hope im posting this in the right place
but here goes
i am 7 weeks and 2 days Pregnant but today had a ultrasound to see if i was right with my dates the ultrasound says im 5 weeks so im confused
coz my doctor goes by my last period witch was 30th June so am i 5 wweeks or 7 not sure what to tell people now and how do i know when to do my 12 week scan
Hun I had the same thing with ds. The scans aren't always perfect, and sometimes you can ovulate at funny times, iykwim. Most doctors and midwives will go off the date on the scan (and you will be asked "Are you sure about your dates?" about 100 times :rolleyes:)
Nothing to worry about. for the record, ds was 4 days early according to the scan, but according to all the midwives he 'looked like' an overdue baby so who knows? ;)

go by the scan. AS its called a "dating scan"anyway. Sometimes u will ovulate late and this will occur so when you had your last period doesnt come into play IYKWIM

the same thing has happened to me, the dating scan has put me back a week. It seems to happen to most people.
but i am still going by my LMP. just cos it sounds better and I'll wait and see what they say at my 12 week scan.
with the scan i'm pretty sure in the information they give you it says you can have it anytime between 11 and 13 weeks, so i just booked somewhere in between.
dont stress about it too much, 2 weeks wont make a huge differance, maybe see what your doctor says.
I am in a similar position. I had my scan this morning and from my dates thought I was 6w1d but was told I am 5w3d. I came home and did some google searching and found out that in these early days, even one day can make a massive difference to what they can see on the ultrasound. The sonographer (?) did say that to me this morning too. I am just thinking/hoping that since mine was a belly scan then maybe not much more could be seen?
What did you see? I just saw a sac - that's it. Was hoping to at least see a yolk :(
What if you told people you were around 6 weeks? Smack in the middle of both estimates. That way at your next US if your dates move again it isn't going to feel like such a massive adjustment? Just a suggestion.

i will post up the pics tomrrow for u starangelk we seen the sac and the yolk and heard the heart beat so its confusing i will type up what the results say tomorrow when i get them
just makes us feel stupid me and Joel been telling epople im 7 weeks to have the s\ultrasund say 5 weeks
I would go by the scan at this stage there is a big difference in what you can see between 7 weeks(fetus with hb) 5 weeks most usually gest sac or maybe small fetus they are usually max about 5 days out at this stage but with 2 weeks difference I would go off the scan as you can o late and the dates really start from 2 weeks before you o but not everyone like myself has a 28 days cycle
wish you a h&h 9 months and when you are holding your bub 2 weeks won't mean much
Lilbooties - don't feel stupid...........I know it's hard but being upset just puts extra stress on you and you just don't need that. Did you mention at the US that you thought you were further along? Seeing the sak, yolk and heartbeat is good though! I am a bit jealous ;) Also, it's a bit strange because when I had my scan today she said she wouldn't expect to see a yolk, heartbeat etc at 5w3d. Do you think that's because I had a tummy scan? Or maybe it means you are further along?? I know there is heaps of different information but it does seem strange that we have been told we are measuring a day apart but can see heaps different things I reckon. Take care
hey starangelk i had the ultrasound tummy scan to could just mean im further along but my friend also said se didint get to here the babys heart beat at 5 weeks so dont be worried maybe get ur doc to do another scan in a week or so the the ultrasound dude just put up the heatbeat could see little flicker i wouldnt worry tho i think different places do it different as my friend said they didint let her ear babys heartbeat some times its still to hard to detect but i wish u good luck i recon try in a week or 2 if ur normal doc says no other scans then go to another doctor tell then u just wanna double check hope tis helps i will post up the pics when i get them tomorrow and u can have alook and see if we both seeing the same thing
i dont really stress out as much now i been thinking the main thing is im haveing a baby im PREGNANT so i am so happy about that all our familys and frineds are to
Excellent - great to hear you are feeling better about it all. I am not in the office today - taking a girly day with a friend but will try and upload my scan soon so we can compare :)
I went for my u/s last week. I too going by my last period should have been about 8 weeks but by the scan, I seen the sac only and measured at 5w2d. My bloods also indicated around 6 weeks. So my GP is sending me again in two weeks. I'm not to worried as my last daughter , with my first u/s I didnt see anything no sac nothing but two weeks after I seen her hb. And she is now a very happy two year old.
With my first bub they changed my dates about 3 times, i had a bleed at what i thought was 8wks they did an internal and said no your only 6 weeks, then when i went for my 12 wk scan based on the internal they said no your 13 wks, etc etc.
As many ppl have said they will generally get you to go off the SCAN dates but i guess you can never be 100%, this time round i am lucky enough that my dates were spot on and they haven't changed me once yet and i am now 20wks.. YAY

Just wanted to add, at my first scan with ds they didn't see a heartbeat or a yolk. I had an extremely uncomfortable internal scan and that didn't pick up a heartbeat either. The heartbeat was there two weeks later, but it was a very stressful time.
I think from memory i always used to tell people my due date, not the scan date, until i was about halfway along. They changed my due date about 6 times, spanning over 3 weeks in total, so everyone was a bit confused anyway :lol:
