Need some recommendations for my chubby thighed boofa!

Yep, I've put my foot down (teehehehehe) and decided I WILL splurge a bit on some cloth nappies. Not too much, but I want to get maybe 10-15 GOOD ones.

(I define anything good to be better than the cheap eBay nappies we are using right now. Which do the job, IF they are boosted to the hills. But they are wearing out, and my sewing machine has packed it in so i can't replace the velcro on the rest of them :doh: so figure I'll just use it as a great excuse to buy good ones hehe. I deserve it right? I mean, at less than $5 each we've obviously saved a mint on nappies, bout time to treat Jazz to something nice ;) hehe, well thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it when the CC statement turns up!)

Ok, so I have NO idea what would be good for Jazz.

She has huge thighs, although her michilin rolls are getting smaller (:cry: lol). She's a fairly heavy wetter. I'm hoping for something trim too.

I have lots of covers so it doesn't HAVE to be an AIO.

I do prefer velcro as I've tried a few nappies on her but can never get the right fit on Jazzy's boofa belly with snaps.

I've got a Jamtots Berry Plush, one where you snap in the booster (a pocket nappy?), and I find it to be totally useless for Jazz, if that helps. When we use it we get leaks out the legs and no matter how hard her poo is it just goes straight up the back. Not sure what that means (I'm sure someone will be able to point me in the right nappy direction?) but I can count on one hand the times we've had poo leaks in our cheap nappies, and that includes newborn and exclusive bfing poo (they really aren't that bad actually).

Ok, so what do you think? I have no idea what is actually trim, I've never really paid much attention :redface: I just admire them and daydream lol. And how would I know if she needs a wide or narrow crotch nappy (lol, not that I even know what is wide or narrow LMAO)?

Argh! I'm excited, and I definitely want to try a few different, but i really don't know where to start with them. I know BBH are on the cheaper side, but are they good? I'm looking on buy for baby and I still don't know where to start :doh:

I feel a bit silly as I've had most people tell me using the eBay nappies, anything would be better, but I'm still not wanting to pay $20-30 a nappy for something that is just ok KWIM?


ETA: She's 13ish kgs. I'd rather have a sized nappy, unless the OSFM go to a really large size? Even if we can use it for next time, I'd like these ones to go the distance. Plus I don't think I'd get away with another spending spree 6 months down the track lol

Leash, side snapping ones seem to be good for chubby thighed bubs, I don't really have a lot of experience with them obviously - you've seen my kids!! lol

But I do have some sidesnapping ones in my stash, and I'm more than happy to bring some down so you can try them on Jazz and you know what the fit is like before you go a-spending ;)

Leasha have you tried some Honeyboys? I can send you a home made jobby (as long as you don't laugh ;) ) and if you think the fit is OK then stalk buyforbaby for more of them!

They are a tad bulky though they were such a good fit for C-dude and he was built like a tank at that age!

Blueberry pockets are great for a OSFM. Itti bittis are deceivingly good for big thighed bubbas too. I'd go the large ones. C has had 2 years of wear out of his ittis!

Mel, that would be great, are you heading this way any time soon? Don't want you to be out of your way!! Wish I had put my foot down before Tuesday LOL!

Sam, I've never heard of Honeyboys lol, but did a google and they look good! I'd love to try one on her (I promise not to laugh :D)! Are they very bulky?

Leash - yeah I could come down early next week before I pack all the nappies away and start using disposables :rolleyes:

Plus DH wants us out of the house so it will be nice not to be sitting on the edge of the road with the kids.

I did have some honeyboys - they were wayyy the wrong shape for my kids, so you might have success there. I just donated them to someone else unfortunately! otherwise you could have had them!!!!

They are a tad on the bulky side compared with others but I could live with that for the fit we got ;) PM me your address and I'll post the up to you!

Ooooo I'm getting excited now, another gorgeous lady is sending up some for us to trial too YAY! If Shel see's them and how good they are she'll definitely want to buy LOTS (in theory lol)!

Itti bittis are a nice compact nappy. You could get a fitted one and just use one of your covers. And a side-snapping nappy we like here is the bubba J pocket - it's fairly inexpensive too from memory... It's also pretty compact. We also like blueberries. Natty has pretty skinny legs though, so not sure if what we like would be what you would like, KWIM? FWIW, I think berry plush are pretty but I don't like the fit of them on my kid either. (I haven't tried cloth on Phoebe yet! I've been way slack.)
The other naps I really like are bubblebubs AIOs.
I think it's probably going to be trial and error though - no one can guess what's going to fit your bub best.

Palmer is a really heavy wetter and just for a size comparison, she is already in size 0's and 1's and wearing socks sized 12-18 months. I didn't believe she was the size of a 1 year old until I saw a 1 year old yesterday. She is!

We use Cushie Tushie Cortures and we have never had a leak...the leg holes fit really well and there are so many different ways to do them up. They are a one size all-in-one.

They dry very fast too...so easy to care for, put on, wash, fold etc. I am BIG fan.

Wow, you have quite a girl! She outdoes my boofa boys. You must get really tired of strangers telling you she is huge!! :rolleyes:

I second cushie tushies to fit around chunky legs and they have quite a wide crotch. Itti bittis are quite large around the legs but narrow crotched. BBH magicalls are generously sized so you can stuff lots in if you need them to last a while, my DS1 wears them overnight.

I never thought she was big becuase I don't have any other babies to compare to...but as I discovered yesterday, yes, she is a bit of a fatty and very, very long. (But I am 5'11" with size 12 feet and her dadis 6'4" so it figures she was going to be big-ish).

But yep...never had a problem with the Cushie Tushies.
