How did you feel - deciding to conceive number 2?

We have been talking about TTC number 2 for a while even though Georgia is still little but it took us 2 years to get her after 2 miscarriages so we thought we would start trying early like in October. I have my good and bad days one minute I feel I am ready and the next I am not. Please dont say to me " well just dont do it if you feel you are not ready" because it is not as simple as that.
Just would love to hear everyone elses stories and feelings on this.

Hmmm, well we agreed to start trying around when DD turns 1 - I would ideally like 1.5-2years between them as my middle bro and I were really close when we were little because of our ages being close like that so I would like it for DD - BUT on the other hand I think about how much extra work it will be with 2 so little and DH is enjoying the bit more sleep etc we have now or when she has a bad day I think but how will we cope???

(I realize I'm blabbering) I guess I'm trying to say that it's normal to have mixed feelings - and if you do fall pregnant sooner than expected - well that's why pregnancy is so long - 9 months to get well and truly used to the idea. Sounds like you've got a plan and for good reason if you're worried about how long it might take you TTC, and not being 100% isn't a bad thing - it's just means you are a normal person who is considering everything.

We wanted kids close together and it took us 12 months to conceive DS, so thought we would see when AF returned and then decide what to do.

AF returned at 6 months (january) and in march we decided to start TTC but not fanaticlly like we did with DS got preg 2nd month of TTC as i said it was not the full on try like we did with DS.

I knew when AF was and when i was due to ovulate approximatly and to be honest i have no idea how we did conceive as the 2 days were not normal conceive days as per previous charting.

I think that if you're thinking about TTC then you are ready - if you didn't have any reservations I'd think there'd be problems!!!!! As mentioned, it is a long time between conception & birth so is best to consider that in your preparations.

We're TTC #2 and we had reasons to delay this long. I know it makes it statistically more difficult but I was not ready to TTC prior to this. Having said that, I'm still "omg are we doing the right thing" !!!

We're in that exact situation right now. We're going to start TTC #2 in Oct too ;)

I have mixed feelings but I know I want at least one more child and I'm not getting any younger. We had originally planned for 18months between pg so that's coming up in Nov. I BF DS until he was 11months old and while I was BF there was no way I could even consider having another. Once I stopped BF it was like a switch got turned on and all of a sudden I could face being pg again. I also wanted to get my body back to how it was pre-pg before I did it all again. I've well and truly done that now (I weigh about 3kg less than I did before conceiving DS and I'm super fit ATM :D) so that's a good thing but at the same time I'm thinking I bounced back so well after DS do I really want to stuff myself up again and risk not springing back into shape again? Its selfish to think this way but I can't help it.

Anyway, I know I haven't offered any advice but you're certainly not alone in having cold feet about #2.

Thanks for the replies everyone man what a roller coaster hey. I am glad I am not alone though.
We are hoping for 3-4 children and even though I am only 26 and have plenty of time I still want them close together but I just didnt realise that it would come around this quickly.

principessa76 - your reply was helpful and its not selfish to think that way at all I am the same I was very lucky with Georgia and I am hoping to be the same again next time.

i waited til i was 110% ready, mentally that is. I had severe PND with DS and it took me almost 5 years to even consider a 2nd. We were't even considering #2 at all initially, thanks to DS but we eventually wanted another once DS was about to start school.

Just make sure you are ready to handle two little ones.

I am pretty sure I can handle two littlies well I guess I will just have to wont I lol. All I have ever wanted to be/do is a mum so I am doing what I love.

My dh wanted our children to be really close in age, but i wasn't so sure - i was thinking - how can I love another child as much as this one? Anyway, I fell pregnant when dd1 was 9 months old, and all through the pregnancy I was still worrying about how I would cope. When dd2 was born, all of those thoughts went out the window. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her, and I knew everything would be alright.
I'm so glad I listened to my dh, as they have a wonderful relationship. There's a 4 year gap between dd2 and dd3 - and even though i would have liked for them to all have been closer together - this age gap is working beautifully for now as well.

i feel exactly the same at the mo. when jayda is having a bad day i think oh mna how will i handle 2 btu then she will do the most beautiful thing and i am like awwww i want another one, or just lookin at how big she seems to be getting and i want a little baby again lol.
BUT my main thing is i put on alot of weight wit jayda and i got up to 100kgs i am down to 90kg now so i would really love to loose another 10kg b4 gettin preg again cause i really really dont want to get over 100gs
