Do you think it is an ear infection?

My 18 month old has been rubbing both her ears, not all the time yet often enough to notice that she is doing it regularly. Her ears are not weepy just have the normal amount of wax after a few days. She is grizzly today but I think that's as she woke early this morning. Her nose was runny for about a week when she had a cold but it's now dry. No fever either.
Should I take her to the Dr's just because she is rubbing her ears?. Is that a bit of over kill?
Any advise is greatly appreciated as I have never seen an ear infection before.

has she been throwing up?
any temperatures?
do the ears look red?
is she off her food?

No throwing up, no fever, and not off her food. But her ears may be a little red.
It's just that i told a lady here at work that she was grumpy and rubbing her ears and she said 'take her to the Dr's' Just thought that maybe a little presumptious?.

Doesn't hurt to take her to the dr if you are concerned- you can't be too cautious with these things, especially as ear infections can get worse and worse iykwim?
have you checked to see if she's getting any teeth? both my boys pull on their ears when they're teething.

she is rubbing her whole hand up and down her ears. But there's no teeth that I can see. But you never know when or if they are popping up! She got the two on the bottom in front of the molers a few weeks ago, maybe she is getting the ones on the top?

Worth getting checked - just because it can turn nasty quickly. She could be itchy too from an external ear canal thing like swimmers ear which is a fungal thing. Or maybe she's just discovered her ears! Either way I'd err on the side of getting it checked because low-level ear infections that are left to go for a period of time can affect their hearing.

I'd go to the Drs. My DS is currently on AB's for an ear infection & he didnt have a fever or vommit although he did go off his food.

No harm in getting it checked out. At least if it is an ear infection then it will be able to get fixed sooner rather than later IYKWIM.
