Ironing Service?

Hi ladies,

I'm seriously considering offering an ironing service in my area. I work full time, but would like a few extra dollars on the side.

I'm thinking of charging $15 per basket - if you got a flyer in the letterbox or noticed a poster on the local noticeboard, would you think of that as a fair price?

More than fair - how long would it take you to do a basket? Keep in mind people will cram as much as possible in the basket. I would definately pay that amount.

Maybe state standard basket? i can see people rocking up with the huuuuuuuuge baskets you can get!

LOL! I detest ironing. I own one but only been used when a friend was here. I just get iron free clothes or hang shirts that need to be decreased in the bathroom while i shower on a coathanger! Yes, I am lazy but I believe if people want to judge me on creased clothes when I want to spend time with my baby they can get st***ed.

good luck with it, i think you'd get some customers definitely, and probably some regular ones at that!

the lady we had doing ours was fabulous...she charges $20 a level basket, or $2 an item

Thank you for the support and feedback ladies!!!! I think I'll advertise at $15 per basket for a while and see what sort of response I get. I've done up a few fliers to post on local noticeboards and also ordered a car magnet.

Good Luck! $15 sounds very reasonable - I'd definitely pay that to have stuff ironed.

How does an ironing service work? Do the customers have to drop off the stuff to be ironed or is it picked up/delivered?

I'm going to offer a pick-up and drop off service as well. I figure that will appeal to people more, but if they're happy to drop their own stuff off that's fine with me!
