How to put sheets on the cot

Ok - so i've got 2 weeks to go until bubby is due ( i hope!) and i've decided to attempt to put the sheets on the bubby's cot. No problems with the fitted sheet, but i'm having the hardest time attempting to put the top sheet and cotton blanket on (not just because the belly keeps getting in the way either!). Do any of you wonderful ladies have any advice or secret tips you'd care to share?!?

I'm planning on just wrapping bubby as i don't have any sleeping bags and it still gets quite cold at nights here in wagga, so i'm thinking that a top sheet, cotton blanket and maybe another blanket will be plenty. anyways now i'm rambling....

Also how far down do i actually put the top sheet and blanket, further down than half-way? Do i fold the top half back like you would on your own bed or leave it?? Help!??!!!

Flip the matress up sideways and tuck one side in, then do the other side the same way. I wouldnt bother with a top sheet, if you swaddle your bub it will be pointless to have another blanket on the cot as you swaddle instead of, not aswell as tucking in iykwim?

If you still want to make it, Bubs feet should be at the end so depending how long your little one turns out to be, I would make it around 60cm from the end.

I never put a top sheet on - I just put wrapped baby in cot and covered with a blanket as needed and tucked it in around him. Of course he still doesn't sleep under a sheet at 3, but I'm hoping he'll learn this spring/summer!

I don't use a top sheet either. We just wrap him and then just tuck in the blanket over the top.

I just used to whack the cover over DS loose - tucking in was too much effort with a tiny baby who was wrapped anyway.

Now I only tuck in the bottom of his fleece sheet and just pop his quilt on the top of that on cold nights. I did try fully tucking it all in but he just kicked it all off every night.

I didn't use a top sheet either. It's just one more thing to tuck in around them, or that could potentially get loose and be a hazard.

If you do use one, I would make sure that it can't get higher than bubs' armpits anyway, like you would with a blanket.

FWIW I was also totally unsure of how to tuck in my daughter before she arrived. This, and very many other things, was something that I learned in the hospital. If you are staying in hospital or wherever that there are midwives about, you'll be expert at it by the time you get home. So don't worry too much now about getting it right :)
