Chaffing or disposable nappy allergy??

G has a red rash on her belly just under her belly button and on her hips, where the top and the sides of her disposable nappy touch her. No other part of her has a rash. I was just using cheapo nappies but since she has been crawling this rash has developed, I just thought it was chaffing, it got that bad that when I applied a cream she screamed.
I changed to huggies crawler nappies which helped for a little, like a couple of days but it seems to be back again. Do you think it is chaffing or could she have an allergy to disposable nappies.
My mum said that I couldnt wear them as I was allergic.

hmmmmm it could be a reaction, but i cant see why she would have issues now and not before IYKWIM? ide say its from the nappy rubbing when she moves, coz as ive seen shes a lil mover! try tucking her top/singlet in a little to the top of her nappy and see if that works? or...... go cloth ;)

I was allergic to sposies as a baby too, but they were alot cheaper quality than they are now. Sounds like they are rubbing. Poor bubba. Cloth would be alot softer against her skin :)

It's possibly chafing. I think once there has been the skin irritated then it's more sensitive and susceptible to further irritation IYKWIM.

My DS2 was allergic to sposies and he had permanent nappy rash and bleeding and welts on his bits from them if I didn't plaster cream all over him. I'm not sure if an allergy will develop now but then its possible if it was a nappy she hadn't worn before.

mmmm poor little thing how annoying for her, she has worn huggies before and the cheapo nappies so it must be chaffing.

Ever considered going back to the old fashioned idea of cloth nappies. You can use an eco friendly laundry wash. Hang them in the good old sunshine. Free disinfecting by the sun. The plastic and synthetic materials in disposables mean real trouble for fragile baby skin. Imagine your face wrapped in plastic. Not for me and probably not for you.

Jazz gets a 'burn' on her thighs and belly from disposables. Possibly the elastic I've been told? Yeah, go to cloth, we use cloth 99% of the time, and its the best thing for their little butts ;)
