Hi,
Just another query, my baby who is nearly 7 weeks old has clenched fists most of the time. She has them out and relaxed when she is drowsy or sleeping but the rest of the time they are tightly clenched. She has them so tightly clenched sometimes that her little hands turn purple and go cold. Is this normal for a baby of this age?

i would say yes. My little ones had the fists going for a no. of months.
perhaps check at your 2 month check up with your MCHN
Yep, it's normal, I just can't remember what age they unclench them :doh:
Arlea still has hers clenched a lot of the time.
I remember this very well.. DS came in to the world with fists clenched and then finally at about 4 months he stopped doing it so much and then at 5 month just stopped.... He used to lay there with arms in the air and fists clenched whether he was excited or sad... Every baby is different so don't think your little one will go on for as long as my DS did. My Paed just said it was a phase (long one at that!!!)

Charlotte had clenched fists until she was walking almost lol I used to try all sorts of things to get her to open her hands...
I dont know why they do it, but your DD is not abnormal ;)
same here as well - DS is still doing it & he's nearly 3 months. i've noticed in the last week that he's started to uncurl them a little.
Yep, definitely normal! I worried too, but they unclench eventually :)
Same here. Her toes are clenched too. She gets quite a bit of lint between those digits too LOL.
Yes! We do a bit of toe-lint pickin :lol::
