Symptoms of UTI or Kidney Infection?

I am so uncomfortable at the moment.:wall:
For the last 3 days I have had this horrible pain in my lower abdomen, it was preceded by me needing to wee more often etc, although there is no pain when weeing thankfully!
It almost feels like I am constipated, but I am not at all.
I suspected a UTI, but I am beginning to think that it might actually be a Kidney Infection, as the pain is spreading into my back.
Anyway, I have been to the Dr's and I am now on AB's while awaiting the test results. I had a BT to check that I am not PG, which I am not.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this sort of constant pain when they have had a UTI etc? It is the worst when I go to stand up or sit down, and is really sharp.

We are going on holidays on Tuesday, so I am hoping it clears asap!

I am hoping DS (6 months) will not be affected by the AB's too.....??

Genereally you will find that is a UTI goes untreated (as it often can as it may not present obvious sypmtoms) it will progress to a kidney infection.

You can tell it is a kidney infection as you will have cramp like stabbing pains in you back, between the bottom of your ribs and the top of your hips on one or both sides. You can help relieve the pain by massaging downwards with your hand quite hard - this will help manually remove the build up in your kidney and help it to clean itself.

Drink plenty of water, the ABs will clear it up - the ABs should be fine with your DS so long as the dr knew you were BF when he prescribed them?

anyway, it will pass - I had a severe double kidney infection and it was painful as hell! So :hug:!!

yep, what LimeSlice said. Drink HEAPS of water, it'll help. Hope it goes away soon.

i had a kidney infection, that landed me in hopsital for a few years back.. and it was a dull ake in my back and had the urge to drink alot of water. also gor a feaver (around the 40?c mark :redface: before i told any one) and also felt like my head was going to explode beucase of a headace that came with it...but i agree drink lots of water, if you get a temp. go see a doctor for more abs

Thanks Guys, will get onto the water asap. The Dr I saw was not my usual one, and wasn't really all that interested in anything much I had to say or ask, so I was left with lots of unanswered questions! (I won't be going back to him again.)
That might explain why I have had massive headaches all week (I don't normally get them at all).
