Safe and sound maxi rider???

We have a safe and sound maxi rider for ds as bubs will be going into the convertiable safe and sound seat.

The other weekend i was told that the maxi rider crumbles when using a lap belt in an accident and is dodgy??? You know how when at 18kgs you take the harness out and change to a lap belt and H harness?

I dont understand how this can be???? How does it pass the Australian standards if it cumbles in an accident???

The person said any child over 18 kgs is at risk of the seat crumbling????

I find it really hard to believe...do you think she got this info as a sales person was trying to sell her 2 more seats????

It wouldn't have a rating to 26kg if it did that in an accident. I think your friend may have heard a dodgy rumour about them. I really can't see how it would crumble anyway.

Yeah thats what I thought Trillian. I dont tend to belive most things this person tells me but thought I better ask the wisdom of my BB girls xxx

It was a while ago now, but when NRMA or RACV or whoever last tested seats, the maxi rider rated really well. I think the only concern with them is that when you are using it as a booster seat there is a risk of the child slipping under the belt in an accident if you don't buy the optional anti-submarining clip. With the clip it is one of the safest on the market according to the tests.

Never heard that before. Oskar is in one now and we love it. I can't see how there would be any difference in the actual safety of the seat (crumbling) with or without the harness, makes no sense at all as it's not changing the makeup of the seat IYKWIM?
