I've just started to upload photos of my needlework (mainly cross stitch) to FaceBook. HERE is the link. Click on "next" up the top right of the photo to see the rest. There is a close up detail after every "whole" shot.

Bath, I've been meaning to tell you for a while that I love your work! Starting to think I should dig out some of the pictures of stuff I've done over the years, too.

Do it BW! I went on a photo taking frenzy yesterday because the light inside was just right for it... because I have had most of my work framed with glass it's tricky to photo properly...can't use a flash...light outside can be too bright and reflect things etc.
Next I'm going to try scanning my work BEFORE I have it framed... I used to scan my tapestry weavings and it always turned out great.

Just the one's that I already have pictures of so far. I went cushion-mad one year and basically made everyone cushions for Christmas. I had so much fun that I did a heap for myself and made some extras for my family. I know there's more pictures of stuff I've done elsewhere, I just need to look... and then dig out the camera!
I really need to take pictures so that I avoid the rather embarrassing situation of the other day where I found a chart I'd forgotten I even had and then later found that I had actually completed said chart and had forgotten all about it! :redface:

Just checked them out BW!!! :thumbsup: Thats some serious stitching! I have never made a cushion... too worried that the cross stitch will get stained or damaged in some way... I prefer the safety of it being behind glass and up on a wall... sad really because what you have made looks lovely... thanks for sharing! :D
They've actually survived really well. Even the pale cream ones I did for my parents. I sewed the cushion insert in completely, but they have gone fine being thrown into the washing machine (I did wash and set the dye in all the fabrics I used before I made them up) on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the ones I made for my in-laws haven't been as well cared for and have certainly seen better days. When the arthritis is bad I find it easier to do small designs on small bits of fabric - which is where the patchwork cushion idea came from.

Ahh, yes your arthritis must make stitching tricky sometimes.... I have seen (in needlework magazines) adverts for special fingerless gloves that are meant to help with hand pain. My thryoid issue gives me the shakes which is why I have slowed down with my stitching and gone up a size in Aida cloth... now I prefer 14 count. I have 1 project to be done on fine linen then that's it... *sigh* I should have done more when i was younger in my 20's. I started when I was 16... should be grateful for that at least LOL
They look great BW. I have taken a pic of my latest one - a wedding sampler for my SIL before it was framed but I haven't had time to upload it yet. I have a pattern for a cushion that is massive and all solid block stitching, but I need 89 full skeins of floss so I haven't done it yet as it's a bit exxie to buy all the floss at once. Not sure if I will make the pillow or just frame it.
I sometimes find that stitching helps keep my hands from getting stiff. If I'm having a bad flare in my hands I need a small project with no hoop so there's less weight to hold. It mostly gets my knees and feet these days - the cross stitch keeps me sane by giving me something to do while I sit down - and that's the reason I've done so much I can forget what I've done... Started when I was 15, so there's (almost) 20 years of stitching behind me.
There's got to be more people with stuff to show off than me and Bath! Come on, people! :)

89 skeins!!!! Good grief! At about $2.50 each that is going to be exxy! I remember when DMC floss was 70c a skein... *sigh* If I hear of any sales I'll let you know. I think VicStitch (the site) has heavily reduced Anchor floss ATM.... what brand do you need?

I know!!!! Its all DMC and I can get them at a place online called witch something or rather for $1.05 each but even then it's still dear.
$2.50!!! Where are you buying your threads from, Bath? I got some from lincraft the other day for 84c per skein for DMC. They are usually 95c there - 94c if you use their shop online feature (but I don't know about postage).

and even weave cloth is getting exxy these days! Aida used to be only a few dollars per fat quarter... now it's like $15 if you are lucky. I keep my eyes peeled at Op Shops. I have my mother on the hunt too, she generally sends down anything x-stitchy she finds. The great thing about needlework is that the materials (if stored properly) don't go 'off'... there's no urgency to get it done... hmmm, maybe that's actually a pitfall!!! :doh:
Lincraft in the CBD has got as high as $2.50 :( Our local store sells them for about $2.20 I think.
Hmmm.... i just checked Lincrafts online store.... DMC stranded cotton... 94c each... I swear it's more instore....am I going crazy? LOL

Bath I bought a magazine the other day that had loads of gorgeous little Christmas cross stitch patterns to use for gift tags and decorations and even a small advent calendar. If you (or anyone else!) is interested in them without having to spend $15 on a mag I can scan and email them to you.
