Immunisation allowance?

Do they still pay this?

If they do is it still at 18 months or so??

DS hasn't had his 18 month needles yet (been sick), but I just wanted to check if they still paid it & when.

I think it's paid at either 18 months or 2 years (when the final infant injections are given). Then I think there's another one paid after the preschool injections are given. I was reading about it the other day because I wanted to know.

There are no others til 4 though? Well not at 2. That I know of. Have they changed them?
Never heard anything about 2 payments before...hmmm.

They have split the payment into 2 to make sure that you get their 4yo needles done :rolleyes: It's a payment of $122.?? from memory and it will be paid once they have confirmation that you have either vaccinated them or lodged a conscientious objection form.

Kinda makes sence I guess...coulda been handy though.

Just gotta wait for them both to get better...DD is 4 months overdue, DS 1 month. We'll get there.

one between 18 months and 2 - if you haven't had the payment by 23 months, make enquiries as i think, if it's stayed the same, if it's not paid by 24 months it won't be paid at all. the other is after 4 year old needles.

Yep, you get one payment at 18 months, and then the other at 4 years.

Well I got the 18 month one, totally unexpected the next week. He was about 19.5 months??
He hasn't had that one yet, but as far as I've heard its not compulsery?? I have no idea. Bri had chicken pox at 6 months old & they didn't immunise for it when Jaz was little, so I don't know much about it.
They are both sick again...starting to wonder if they'll ever be immunised...

Maternity Immunisation Allowance is a non-taxable payment that is usually paid in 2 separate amounts of $122.75 each:

• the 1st amount is paid for children who meet the immunisation requirements between 18—24 months of age, and
• the 2nd amount is paid for children who meet the immunisation requirements between 4—5 years of age.

the 18 month old vax isn't compulsory as yet - it's been introduced and is suggested that it is done, but you only hve to be up to date to the 12 month imm's by 18 months for it to be paid. the chicken pox one isn't offered in all states (i don't think) so hasn't been incorporated into that payability for the imm allowance as yet...

i think the time framne for being overdue for the 4 yo immunisation has changed and it now needs to be done withing 2-3 months of them turning 4.
medicare will be sending reminders out if yoru a month late, and if you get 3 of these and dont act you dont recieve payment.

i am only aware of this as our statistics have changed due to the new regulations implemented by medicare in teh last 3 months as you used to get 6 montsh grace.

which immunisation are you unsure about being "compulsory"?
if it is one which has been given previously it is advised to continue with the course of needles to help ensure as good a coverage as posssible is given.

Chicken pox is the one I thought wasn't compulsery. Jesse's due for it, but hasn't been healthy enough yet.

Bri is due for the 4 year ones, but got tonsillitis & glandular fever & I was told by the doc to put them off. Next time I booked her in she had tonsillitis again & she now has it back a 3rd time, so she's now 5 months over due. I think I got her immunisation allowance in full though, back when she was 18 months. I haven't had any notices about hers that I know of...

you would know if you got one, would have medicare and ACIR all over it..

i dont think its compulsory as it was only recently introduced, i think it will be for jesse, as he started on the new schedule so needs to continue,

as long as your GP is the one putting the needles off, he can send through an approved catch up schedule to ACIR and they won't hassle you about being late as the doctor has notified that s/he is aware and is working with you (well, that's the information we've been given at work anyway!)

with chicken pox, i dont think it is compulsory yet - it's a one off needle and i haven't heard anything about it being compulsory yet
