Today I visited an amazing shop that specializes in retro look and actual vintage fabrics and wallpaper. It's called FlashBack and it's situated on High Street Northcote. I found it hard to restrain myself but I bought just one piece of fabric, pictured HERE (if I have you added as a FaceBook friend).
Do you like using vintage fabrics and if so where do you buy them?
I'm an ebay fan.
Also, that patchwork shop on Church St West Hawthorn has some beautiful retro-look fabrics (or it did, 2 years ago when I lived there)
Country opshops are my other fave. I'm not opposed to chopping up a shirt or tablecloth to get what I want :D
I've bought quite a few retro-style fabrics recently - to make into wall art and get rid of the big white box effect most of our rooms still have. I got some lovely chocolate 'jewel mobile' by alexander henry and stretched it over canvas and thats now on our bedroom wall. I like a lot of the michael miller fabrics too - i have a boho chic wetbag for my naps.
Have to admit i'm really into moda fabric at the moment - they aren't really retro the ones i have but i love them - i'm making Isla a patchwork quilt out of the 'candy kisses' range - ill post a photo once it's finished.
So who get's the the jammies out of that lovely fabric Bath - will W and N fight it out? :-)

LOL I'll get my mum to make about a size 6 pair Julie... 6yo will get it first... 3yo doesn't mind wearing hand me downs :) There might be a little bit left to make something small like a pencil case for me... might have a go at covering it in clear plastic to make it last IYKWIM? I have a tote made of a retro piece of fabric covered in clear plastic... works well.
I love reproduction fabrics, I've got a huge stash of civil-war era reproduction fabrics (just lurrrrve the restrained colours combined with the most amazing array of tidy patterns) and several quilt ideas percolating for them. I also like the 1930s style stuff - those wild colours are great -but they really don't match anything in my house so I've not gone there. Picked up some great vintage pieces on ebay (america) and my favorite is a quilt top pieced out of real feedsack cloth, in gorgeous condition, complete with appalacian dust! LOL
