Desperate for NAP help for 2 year old!!

ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHH

Just to get that off my chest! LOL

My 2 yo DS, who never has "slept through" EVER is now being really really problematic over naptime.
He will sleep for the Sitter who does 1.5 days and will sleep for my Dad who does 1 day but no one else anymore!
I lay in his bed with him (happily as I am 20 weeks pg and desperate for rest) and he's not into it. I have tried the pram and the car, and sometimes the car will work, sometimes not.
He used to also nap well for my Mom, but just lately he has started to just play in bed for ages and that is when my Dad comes in and holds him and he sleeps quickly.

I know for a fact, if I tried to hold him it wouldn't work.

I have also just thought -- oh well, let's see ... and sometimes, he lasts until the normal bedtime but yesterday for eg, he fell asleep on the couch while we had friends over from 330-430, which then meant he didn't sleep until 9pm (which does my head in!)

Any thoughts? Any advice?

Um no advice but it seems to be a common problem.

My DS has never slept through either and dropped his day sleep at the age of 2. So I can't help you with advice on how to keep it cos it didn't work here.. LOL

Thanks Arimeh -- Still I wish I knew what do about it. Why he does this just for me and DH is soooo annoying...

If it helps any, DS always took his nap for my mum and daycare but never for me.

Guess they were more fun than me!!! Wore him out more during the day - but as for actually settling him - umm... dunno .. sorry!!

My DD started threatening to drop day sleeps a couple of months back when she wouldn't sleep at all during the day. I too needed a day sleep so I moved her bedtime back an hour over a few days and she still woke at the normal time. And now....she is sleeping during the day again!

How did she do that -- go back to naps? Just on her own? I am really trying not to fight it with DS as it just gets me really mad (!!). On days that someone else makes him nap (without much drama) he is sleeping later in the day (either because he is going down a bit later or he is sleeping longer) -- waking at 330pm, which means I can't get him to sleep until 9pm! On those days he does wake at 7am.
With me, I am giving him quiet time, and that one time, when we had friends over he fell asleep on the couch, sleeping from 330-430. Not ideal.

She went back to naps as she was too tired not to! As I kept her up later she needed that extra sleep in the day.
