Talking about poo-splosions!!! :rofl: I have a great story that happened recently.....!!! haha

On Thurs I decided to head out to the shops just for 15mins just down the road to grab something and wasn't going to bring the nappy bag with me as DD had just had a change! I then at the last minute thought "no i better just incase!" and luckily..... I got her out of the carseat and into her stroller and walked into the shop. Browsing around and talking to the shop owner and she was looking at DD etc and held something up to DD as we were trying to get DD's size and omg :o I noticed she had poo down her leg and on her nappy!!! (she wasnt wearing pants just cloth nappy) OMG :o I was so embarrassed!!!! haha
I told the lady that I had to get going as it appeared we had an 'accident' in her nappy and she noticed too and she said she wasnt phased as she had 3 kids of her own (grown up) and she said "oh it never stops does it..." LOL and we had a bit of a laugh and i got out there pretty quick!!

Back to the car and cleaned DD up, new nappy, wiped her down etc and went to put her in car seat and OMG :o there was poo ALL over the bottom of the carseat where her bum sits.... she had poo'd before i'd even taken her out of the carseat!!!! :rofl:
i then had to put a terry flat nappy down on the carseat and she sat on that all the way home (only 3mins) and then got her home and tidied her up again and the carseat cover in the wash.... and the lambskin stroller insert in the wash too.... :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
So thats my poo-splosion story! Nothing like that has ever happened to me before until now!! haha imagine if i'd put her on my hip, i would have been covered in poo myself!!! hehe

She was wearing an itti bitti (for those MCN users).... shame on you Itti Bitti's!!!! LOL

On a lighter note.... hope everyone had a wonderful day :D (sorry for the poo story.... will make sure my next story is at least breastfeeding related!!!!)

I never had poo-splosions after DS started on solids, not that I miss them. I think the cover/nappy combination is better for containing poos than aios or pockets. I also started using a cover over the top of sposies when we went out too, cause I think the only times we really had bad leaks was with the disposables.
(poos are breastfeeding-related anyway...)

DD tried to latch onto DPs face tonight... I think she got confused because he had a shave this morning LOL and no longer has *****les!

The running joke in my house at the moment is people saying they can't eat my lactation cookies cause they don't want to start making milk. I have reassured them it doesn't work like that but they are still apprehensive... oh well more for me!!

Thanks for those links on the breast crawl MR. I have heard about it but I think I will really research it more this time. I can't wait to get started breastfeeding again! I said to DH today I wonder if DS will want to go back on the boob once he sees the baby feeding.

As I'm leaking colustrum already, is it a good idea to express some and freeze it? Would I just express with a pump or do it with a syringe (that's how the midwives did it in hospital last time). Any benefit to trying to express so early?

You can pump and store it for when your baby is born - it can come in handy just in case they need extra or you have any problems bfing early on. I read about it in an ABA mag once - a woman did it and her baby was early and ended up needing the milk. I was thinking about doing the same thing if I ever manage to get pg again.

If you're leaking more than drops you pick up with a syringe then I would just hand express in to a sterile-ish bottle or cup. I don't think you need the stimulation from a pump at this stage.

Usually expressing colostrum before birth is only done when there is a known risk of early labour or other complication. However if you are leaking it anyway, saving some wouldn't hurt. You won't need much though - even 5mls is a big feed in the first couple of days!

Got to say - I don't miss the poo-splosions. I think my worst poo story was when DS2 was a few months old. We had borrowed a bassinet from a work colleague/friend, but he'd move to London since, and we were returning the bassinet to his sister. His parents were there when we dropped it back, and his mum wanted to hold the baby. Unfortunately he chose to do a huge messy poo while he was on her lap - all over him and her - I was so embarrassed.

I am pretty sure I am now in unchartered (for me anyway) territory. I stopped BFing Sarah around 4 months (I think it was 16 or 17 weeks) and Leah is officially over 4 months old, so she is my longest BFed bub :dance:

6 days between poos is becoming the norm for Leah. She has gone up to 9 days, and the poo scared her coz she forgot what it was like to poo. Today was the 6th day and for once Daddy got to change it :dance: She has had a habit lately of waiting till I am the only adult around to do it. The 9 day one was so big that she needed a bath and I needed a shower to clean it all up, and I had to clean the floor too. It was in a happy heiny. Ah well, I can put up with only 1 poo every now and then, she wees enough to get SA out of drought, so she doesnt need to poo that much.

Every time I look at her cheeks or her leg rolls I say that every single bit is from me and I am so proud of it!! Only medicine and vaccines are the non BM fluids to pass her lips. Her first solids will be Christmas dinner.

I told DH that no matter what I say, I am not allowed to wean before we get home from our holiday. There is no way we will drive for 5 days and have her taking a bottle, there's nothing to warm it with and we dont have room for formula in the car with a month worth of stuff (well 3 suitcases, the tent, the portacot, the stroller, the esky, the car fridge, the jerry can, the sleeping bags, the kids, the adults, the pillows, the presents, ect ect ect)

Well it is getting late and I have a guy dropping 18kg of bananas off for my banana-holics in the morning (will freeze half) so I should get off the computer.

Thanks for the advice on the colostrum ladies. I think I will leave it alone for now. I'm only dribbling little drops mainly noticeable right before I get in the shower. I'll see how it goes down the track, don't want to cause too much stimulation and risk an early birth!

had a rather weird night at the wedding on Saturday - four bubbas under six months old - all but E on formula. one looked to only be a couple of weeks old. it made me really sad - and i wondered if it was through choice or lack of support. i know they all would have birthed at the other "local" hospital to me - the LC i dealt with goes there but only 2 days a week, so maybe they missed out on that help. or maybe the mum's didn't have the support once they left hospital... i dunno - i just felt bad for the bubbas.

but i'll admit i felt mighty proud of myself for not only being the only BF mum - but the fact that i BF more than once in the middle of the reception! i soooooo never thought i'd BF in public - but i feed her when she needs to be fed - wherever, whenever...

Shanti: :rofl: That is hilarious! We've had a few similar incidents - the main one was at Bunnings. I was holding DS, felt/heard his butt rumble - then the next thing we know there is poo dripping on the floor!!!

... and on the subject of poo - We have just started doing Baby Led Solids more full time with DS, which means he's not having as much solids while he learns to feed himself - and I've already noticed his poos becoming runnier.

Alioops: Well done on b/f this long! :clap: It is great watching your bub grow and knowing it's all come from you! :D

BG: I know what you mean about being sad seeing bubs (especially very young bubs) on formula. A few mums in my MG suddenly weaned their bubs - for no real reason either - and I just thought how sad for those babies who suddenly can't have their booby anymore :(.

pmsl Ren, I'm sure you've seen DDs recent poosplosion on FB. It was all down her leg all over her nappy and all over her chest bc she rolled around in it before I noticed!!!!!!!!! GROSS!!

BG, ikwym, I rarely see anyone BF but I do see a lot of FF bubs. I don't think my DD would tolerate me weaning her, it's just not an option, pmsl. She is addicted to booby.

booby addict here too! she gets so excited seeing my booby coming out! even if DH is holding her and she's fidgety/whingey, if i start to organise pillow and stuff to feed her, she gets really excited...

Yep another booby addict here... she won't take anything else - when DD was first born the hospital introducted a dummy to help develop her suck reflex... DP and I hadn't planned on using a dummy but were surprised that we weren't fussed that DD had one.

At about 6 weeks old she stopped taking the dummy... flat out refused it - has one or two sucks then realised it isn't booby so spits it out! I don't mind (though it would be handy to have her take a dummy sometimes!!)

Sometimes she will only take one or two sucks and fall asleep but it is like she needs those comfort sucks to send her off!

Another boob addict here too! He even tries to pull my shirt and bra down to get to them if its feedtime and Im not fast enough :lol: I love it.
