i am trying to get DD2 to have water in a cup but all she does is chew on it and isnt interested really. i have the mag mag cup with the 3 different types of teats. when its the bottle teat she sucks for a bit then stops (maybe doesnt like the taste of water) when i use the spout all she does is chew on it and when i use the straw she just plays around with it as well. it is very frustrating. any tips to get her to start using a cup or is she just too young?
DD did the same thing until about 2 wks ago when she realised you have to tip it up and the water comes out. Now she drinks heaps and tips it way up holding it above her head, pmsl. Just keep giving it to her and she'll eventually work it out :)
Ihave a tommee tipee one which i found really good after trying heaps, it apparently simulates the BF action,and they dont have to suck really hard to get it to work, more of a chew and suck action. it took her a few days but as soon as she realised she had to suck and water came out she loved it. just keep offering it and she will soon get the idea!!!
Heinz baby basics sippee cups are pretty good coz when they chew on it it releases whatever is in the cup but in minute (sp) amount so they dont really notice or get a full mouth. DD started on this one and the only thing against it that we found was that when she had established drinking form it she couldnt tip it up far enough when it got empty to a point. We then went onto the next step in the reange which has handles and she loved it. Was easier for her to tip up coz the handles are at a slight angle.
My DS was the same at first. He didn't like the water and just played with it. I just kept giving it to him and now he drinks from it happily. I find the Nuby ones are good as it releases water when he bites down on it.
