bulging sac at 28 weeks ...

hi all
just went to the docs for a 28 week check up ... i was given an ultrasound to check my cervix as a week ago it was not really shortning however i was dilated to a 3 - strtchy 4 cm. All is well there bed rest has stopped any contractions and i have not progressed any further ! YAY
HOWEVER i am now in the throws of packing (with help of course) and heading down to the hosp to stay in there for duration of pregnancy as the ultra sound showed my amniotic sack was starting to bulge, in an oval shape (i think he said this was the start of an 'hourglass bulge' ? so i will be head down feet up ahhhhhhhhh
has anyone else been through this at all and if so what were your outcomes ? As far as i can tell the sac is of a sausage shape hanging 3/4 the way down into my cervix. thanks xx

I just wanted to wish you all the best for the remaining of your pregnancy. It must be pretty scary for you, hopefully you'll keep cooking for many more weeks. Did they say why you are dilating? I started dilating at 19 weeks when I was pregnant and only made it to 21 weeks. So 28 weeks is really good. Hope it all goes well for you!

hi hun thanks for your reply ! unfortunatly i went in to labor at 6 cms and a few contractions later my waters broke. 2 contractions after than and little ellie was born. She was 2.4lbs and stayed with us for 2 hours then passed away on oct 22nd. I have since been diagnosed with an IC due to having a premie at 33 weeks and now one at 28 weeks. take care xx

oh my... i am so incredibly sorry for your loss. All I can say is that I know what it feels like. My heart truly goes out to you.

If you ever want to chat or share your journey I'm here for you (kriklo79@hotmailcom). I know 10-12 other girls who have lost babies due to incompetent cervix, some of them as many as 3. Its such a terrible condition.

I just had the 1 year anniversary of my little girl being born, we were hoping she would hang on after I was dilating and got the emergency McDonald stitch, but a few days after my water broke I had to be induced. Our world truly fell apart.

I started looking into our options for a future pregnancy but read so many stories about vaginal stitches going wrong, I opted for the abdominal cerclage. Although there are a couple of experienced doctors in Australia, (Dr Brunello in Brisbane and Dr Umstad in Melbourne) we decided to go to the US to get it done by Dr Davis. Dr Davis told us my incompetent cervix is now cured. Its been 9 weeks since the operation and we'll start thinking about ttc soon.

Not a day or night go by without me longing for my baby girl. I have a broken heart, I lay awake at night, I feel lost and confused, I'm angry and I blame myself, the doctors and the world. I have good days and bad days, but every day is another day I should have my baby in my arms. Luckily I have met other mums who know what it feels like and their support have meant the world to me. Don't be afraid to reach out.
