I don't know if this will make sense.
When I look at DD it's like looking in a mirror, but it's not bc of her looks. She looks just like DH, not much me in there at the moment, lol. And she's only 7.5 months old so it's not her personality or mannerisms or anything. I don't know what it is. It's like I'm looking at myself, like she's a part of me (which she is, lol). I mean it's more like we are the same person.
Does anyone else get the same feeling??

No but in all honesty I get what you mean and I do feel the same. Everyone says she looks exactly like her dad but that she is definately me. It is such an amazing bond, looking at the little one that you created and realing that you grew them and they are you. So amazing.
Yes to all three of my children. My middle child "looks" the most like me and has a very similar temperament but yes, both DH and I can really see ourselves in our children.
Awesome timing. I was thinking this myself today. I often stare at DD and think, "wow, you look so familiar". A bit like staring at a stranger and trying to work out where you know them from. Then I worked it out. It's her eyes. They're like mine were as a kid so when I look into her eyes what's reflected back to me are my own eyes when I was younger so yep, like looking in a mirror in some ways.
Yes, all the time. DD has my eyes though! I often think it is like looking into a time capsule... seeing myself as a baby type thing.
Kameron is me all over, and everyone comments on how much Lachlan is like Andrew. Mum will hear what my kids have been up to or see something they have done, and she will say "oh just like you used to do"
Lol yes, I get in really silly moods sometimes and do and say things that aren't funny and I will think are hilarious sometimes to the point where I can't get the joke out because I'm laughing too much lol (only do this at home around family not out and about lol)...Noah does the same thing
Sam is me all over in looks. So much so that it scared me at times - I felt like I was looking at an image of me when I was younger when I looked at him. And then mum brought out my baby photos... Sam in a dress.
However, in terms of mannerisms and personality, he's ALL DH. As much as you can tell at this age, they even have the same sense of humour.

My only girl......goodhelp her...is me all over....she looks like I did when I was little, has the same funny attitude, says what she thinks and rocks her mama's world :dance:

Ava-Jayde is a spitter for me when I was a bub. People look at photos and go "oh ava looks really cute there' and so many times I have to say noo that's not ava thats me lol Sometimes she really looks like dp though. But her tantrums and funny little things she does are me all over. I was even talking to mum the other day about how she'll be a little turd all day, then dp comes home and it's like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. Mum reckons I was exactly the same at that age.

People always comment how much DD looks like me (which she does- a spitting image) and my response is, yes she does, and the poor thing is just like me in mood, temperament and personality- poor girl!
DS is just like his dad, he is the quite laid back and relaxed one just like his dad is.
Heaven I so know what you mean, its a weird feeling isn't it. Sometimes I'll just be staring into my girls eyes and its like I see something so familiar. Its more than just physical looks.
Yes... actually at my granddads funeral, Jazz was a week old, and there was a video montage and there was a pic of my granddad with me a few days old and I nearly flipped as I thought it was a pic of my granddad with Jazz (which would have been more than a bit wierd since he passed only days before Jazzy's birth).
There have been other instances where I've just gone "OMG that is so me..." and Jazz is just as accident prone too... today we had the same accident (ran into the wall :wall: Shel found it so funny :rolleyes:). We dance the same way (which is unfortunate as I can't dance at ALL ;)). We enjoy the same music. We enjoy the same musical instruments. We love the same food...
Sometimes it IS like we are almost the same person. Or shes an extension of me.
DS is me. My mum says looking at him is like stepping back in time 30 years. Sometimes I will see a photo of him and it will look just like a photo in the family album of me. Personality-wise - I just "get" him. If he hurts, I hurt.
However he does seem to have a streak of DH in him that I really think is good for him. DH is much stronger and tougher and self-confident than I am. DS is such a cautious little soul, so I delight in the moments he shows that infuriating stubbornness and contrariness that can only have come from his father.
DD on the other hand...she is not me. I am not sure who she is, but she is definitely not like me and DS. Somehow I know that she will be just fine whereas I worry constantly about DS...she is not as soft as her brother and as a newborn she just didn't seem to NEED me as much.
I dearly hope to have as strong a bond with her as I do with DS. I am finding it much harder to get to know her because the "feel" of her is so different. It was so easy with DS...I instinctively knew how to mother him. I love her so much, she is the dearest little thing in the world and yet sometimes she doesn't feel like my daughter yet. I am scared to death of letting her down.
I know what you mean Heaven. My DS doesn't look like me, he looks like DH - but when I look at him it's as if I'm 'looking' at me - as if we're the same person... I don't know if that makes sense.
Makes perfect sense to me sterla, that's exactly how I feel!
My DD looked the spitting image of her Daddy when born and when she turned about 2 i then saw myself in some of her facial expressions ... but her personality i know sounds strange to say is very much whom i would have liked to have been as a child & teenager as my own Mother held that part of my personality down so therefore i was introvert & shy ... whereas my DD is not shy at all, and by far not an introvert ... and her strong sense of character i feel is who i am today ... and lets not forget she hides no affection from anyone just like me, & always like to give a hug & kiss to everyone :hug: ... and also she smiles alot like me too :D
