should you or should you not....

hi my question is im pregnant with my second baby on the way. And without even thinking about it my sister asked me will you be having a baby shower for this baby. I said i didn't really think about it do you have a baby shower for your second baby is it rude to have it for the second pregnancy. Whats people think should you or should you not have a baby shower the second time im confused i would not mind having one again but would people think your rude asking them to come again. Im confused and am very unsure. Please help.

Go for it! Why not! From someone who didn't even get one baby shower enjoy! lol

I don't think its rude - its a part of pregnancy (not that I had one but thats a whole other thread hehe). I say go ahead and enjoy :)

I think if I had had a second baby shower I would have written that I wanted to catch up and celebrate this pregnancy with my friends too, but that I didn't expect to be showered in gifts this time around. Some people might bring a gift anyway. If someone else is organising it for you, they can always suggest that people might want to contribute towards something you might need for a second child, like a pram attachment or something.

I'm thinking of organising a baby shower for my number 2, only because I "shared" my first experience with my sister, and it became all about her. It was horrible. So this time, I'm going to have an afternoon tea party but just as a nice way of getting all my lovely gf's around for a few hours, but will be saying no presents, just "presence". Bizarrely enough, my sister is also pregnant with her 2nd, we're due about 4 days apart, but I'm not sharing this time ;), probably won't even mention it to her.

I didn't with DD2 just because I ran out of time and couldn't be bothered :D but I say go for it.

However saying that, when I was just preg with the Little Guy, a friend of mine had a shower organised for her by some of the girls from work. I overheard a few of the people invited (who went and bought gifts etc) saying that it was a bit rude for a second baby.
Who cares though?
It's supposed to be fun. Call it a celebration of your pregnancy or something.

I have heard it called, not a baby shower, but a baby sprinkle... to indicate that it's not supposed to be so OTT gifts wise but a bit lighter... I say do it, just becasue you've already had one baby doesn't mean this one isn't exciting & worth celebrating too ;)

I just organised one for my best friend who had her 2nd baby. In traditional baby shower 'rules' your not meant to have it for 2nd + babies... but i say why not??? you still have to go thru preganancy again and this baby is just as special....
we had a few fun games, got everyone to bring something for afternoon tea and said that instead of gifts if ppl wanted to put in some money to buy a nappy cake and a few other essentials for baby and mum.... some ppl did and some ppl still bought their own presents....
it was a great afternoon surrounded by the mum to be's friends. i say go for it!
