How successful are Frostie bubs???

My sister is trying for her one and only frostie bub next month!!!!! :dance::dance:

I dont think she actually does IVF, but ICSI?? She had her eggs taken out, hubbys deposit, mixed them, and she only got 3 out of 11.

One was implanted, and is now my 2 yr old niece, one didn't make it, and one was "ok". This is the frozen one!!

Sydney IVF have told her 1 in 10 don't make it past being thawed out....:cry:

I do know thats stats dont mean much, and she has the chance to go either way, but do frostie bubs have the same success rate as fresh??

She got her daughter on her second attempt.
She went through it all the first time, and only got one "ok" one, that didn't take.
This one is from the second attempt. I dont think she will do it all again, the needles, collecting, cost etc, so praying SO hard little frostie makes it next month.....:pray:

:goodluck::goodluck::goodluck: for your sister hunny i truely hope this works out for her ,i know just how hard it must be for her but i really believe she should give this little embie every last :pray: she has as yes it could very well thaw and take .one of my friends on bb dee had 1 frosty left it thawd and is now 16 weeks pg ,mine have all thawed ok and look at my ticker 25 weeks today . i really hope it works wish her all the best and give her a big hug from one ivfer to another for me.

I've figured out during my time doing IVF that statistics and averages mean bugger all, really. What happens "on average" can be very, very different for each individual woman. I've had a total of 11 frozen embryos, and only 4 of those ever defrosted successfully. A much worse scenario than the one in ten your sister was quoted. I've also had three pregnancies from frozen embryo transfers, and I can't stress highly enough that my reasons for miscarrying those pregnancies were completely unrelated to the fact that those embryos had been frozen. They also quote a 42% pregnancy rate with blastocysts in women under 35... mine was 75%, so while I may luck out in one area, I certainly do look a lot more fortunate in other areas. Anyone else's IVF stats would look completely different again and probably be no closer to the quoted "averages".

If her little frostie bub makes it through the thaw, then there's every chance that it could work out. If the frozen embryo is from the same "batch" of embryos that produced a successful pregnancy, then there's an even higher chance that it could result in another baby for your sister.

I hope all goes well for your sister. I think butterfly warrior is right it can and is different for every woman. I've only had FET's and my first one resulted in my daughter who is now 10.5months old. I've recently had my 2nd FET and am now pregnant.

My Dr said that we should try straight away for our second child because of my age and because IVF is simply not guaranteed to work... you know .. the statistics.

So I'm really happy with the outcome.

Thing is you just don't know what is going to happen until it does.

I don't know what the statistics are but this is my SIL and brothers story.
My SIL went through IVF, not sure all the technical details but they implanted 2 fresh eggs which resulted in 3 bubbas :lol: and they had 4 embroys left. They did loose 3 of them when they thawed them but the last one was ok and stuck and they have a beautiful bubba which is now 8 mnths old.

my fert stats are 33% because 2 out of three transfers failed.

As for thawing stats, her clinic quoted her 90% success rate! that's wicked!! My clinic gave me 80% (but both frosties thawed beautifully). But I think the offical stats are something like 65%, which of course varies for so so so many reasons.

She is on the medication, starts the pesseries soon, and transfer should be around the 28th Nov..... :dance::dance::dance:

She has an ultrasound tommorrow, I think to see if her uterus is 'favourable" with the meds and getting ready for transfer...

I am so excited and nervous for her, I just pray so hard it works... its her last chance.. if little frostie doesn't make it, her and hubby have agreed that they wont go through it all again.

crossing my fingers that it works for her. And wow your such a wonderful support. Many people who aren't going through IVF really don't talk to us, I think they might be scared or don't know how to talk about things that come naturally to them.
