Which elliptical is best?

Hi there, just wanting to pick member's brains on which is the best elliptical to get.

I am quite tall, and my wife is 14 inches shorter than I am, so we are after an elliptical to suit both of us in regards to stride length and things like that.

I have done a bit of research into them in general and its a common thing that you get a numbness in your feet? Some manufacturers have adjustable foot pedals and things like that (so I have read!). I have looked at an american review and they recommended a quality mid range - I think the company was Sole - but it is rebranded in Australia as Healthstream.

Does anyone know anything about this product, or if the one they have is just as good - or any other tips?

Oh - and not TOO expensive either - we're just about to have another baby ;)

Ummm we got ours through GoFit paid off through Certegy finance over 30months - like an interest fee play-buy. It's worth $1800 but the only one we could find that was affordable in terms of financing options. And i figure if we can pay that much to kick the weight it's worth it.

I am about 12 inches shorter than my DF and we dont need to change the settings at all; although i know you can we just haven't found it necessary. Not sure what you mean by numbness, but it's recomended only to spend ten minutes on at a time twice a day, to start off with, maybe the numbness comes later with more advanced workouts.

The only branding on it is 'Go Fit'

I've got an Infiniti. Have had it about 5 years and it cost me $700 at the time. The foot pedals are adjustable for height and stride length. It has various programs, but I usually just hop on and go. You can program it for different people too, male, female, etc and there are sensors on the non-moving handlebars that picks up your heart rate. It's also very stable and feels solid while not taking up much space. When trying them out when I was looking to buy, I found that the cheaper ones were very light and felt wobbly.

I don't know much about brands but the numbness is normal. I find at about the 15 min mark I get the numbness, I just move my toes around inside my shoe and it goes away. My trainer also said she gets it too so it's to be expected.

yeah I was reading up about numbness.....all manufacturers of the cross trainers are aware of it, and even know why it happens, but are struggling to apply it to the cross trainers designs.

They think it is because of a few things......the foot pedals being flat (newer models are coming out with inclined pedals) and also the fact the feet are a little further apart than is ideal, and this is the design problem they are having. The problem is more prone in women, mainly because they arent as big/tall as men in general, so their natural positioning of the feet is narrower.

Some manufacturers have started making the pedals angle in towards the centre and this is helping.

the Infiniti is a good buy at the moment at the local sports store, and we have an Infiniti treadmill, and when we bought that , the store believed the quality of Infiniti products put them up very high in the reputation stakes. We have had it almost 5 years and still goes well, though it hasnt been used that much ;)

With all the e machines I have used both here and in the States...I get numb feet on them all...but you just got on your tip toes and move your feet around. It is a strange feeling but totally bearable.

I am also looking into buying one.

I have a treadmill - a big powerful one with digital screen, programs etc. I bought it from Lifestyle - I think thats it...a store in Ebay. They are new and price all their equipment wayyyyy below retail and everywhere else.

I do recommend them. The delivery was fast and the product is excellent quality. I will most certainly buy my e machine there when I am ready.
