22 months between mine. tht suits us. i thnk whateve the gap it will suit you.
not harder with the 2 jsut busier! LOL
3 years and 1 month betwee our two.
The good-
DD1 is very independant and can do lots and lots of things on her own, not always needing my assistance.
DD1 understood what was happening right through my pregnancy and bring DD2 home.
The bad-
She still demands alot of attention
It's harder to have play time with her(would happen with any age though)
I like our age gap, close enough without being too close IYKWIM? we're thinking about trying for number 3 when DD2 is 12 months old.
I really dont think theres a better age gap to have another child, it all depends on what u can cope with i didnt think id cope with a dependant toddler and a newborn thats why we waited as long as we did, but now i think i'll be fine with it.
Good luck making a decision
9 years. At this age the older one is a REAL help! you can actually trust the older one to care for your newborn while you have a shower... they can often walk to the corner shop to buy some milk... they can often walk to school by themselves meaning you don't have to wake baby to do the school run. it is so easy (LOL, as if!) that you can then go on to have a third baby and by then the oldest one can be a babysitter! not many negatives to be honest. My eldest is a DD... my two younger ones are sons. DD and I are still close... she was old enough not to feel too jealous etc...we still go out shopping or to the movies together.
Thanks for your replies I went to a friends house and whenever i picked up her baby Brodie would get so jelious.
Skybie i think i agree with the 3 years then maybe he will be more negotiable about sharing his parents. I missed the 12 months window lol. that would also be good i guess they dont know any better.
I have many gaps in between my kids!
Ok, between DS1 & DD1 there is 3yrs & 3 months. This was brilliant for me as DS was old enough to know what was going on and he was also completely toilet trained, which I found to be brilliant.
Then we have 13yrs between DS1 & DS2, 10yrs between DD1 & DS2.
Obviously this gap is great because the older 2 have helped out lots with DS2 and they are very protective of him as well as great little entertainers for him.
We recently had a little girl, so now there is 15yrs between DS1 & DD2, 12yrs between DD1 & DD2 and there is 30 months between DS2 & DD2. My only issue there is that DS2 is still too little to understand that he shouldn't be so crazy around the baby.... he loves to run & jump around and forgets about the baby. Also, toilet training DS2 isn't happening right now so I am having to change 2 nappies... it seems like all I do is change nappies, feed the baby and discipline DS2! I love that they will grow up close though so that far outweighs the little things that are going on right now :)
