I'd love something different
this is my mum's pastry biscuit, I use it for everything from the pastry for an apple pie or lemon meringue to making tarts and biscuits that the kids can decorate.
1 cup flour
1 cup S/R flour
1 cup icing sugar
125g butter
1 egg
rub butter into well sifted dry ingrediants and then mix in egg, knead into a dough and roll out between 2 sheets of grease proof paper about 5 mm thick and cut into any shape you have handy.
Bake for about 10-15 minutes until browning at 180 degrees
you can also add chocolate cocoa to the recipe to make chocolate pastry bicuits - very yum.

Gingerbread People (or shapes)
60g butter
125g soft brown sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup
225g plain flour
1/2 tsp bi carb soda
2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg
Preheat oven to 190 degrees, greae a baking tray
Melt butter, sugar & syrup in a saucepan
Add remaining ingredients & cobine quickly to form a soft dough, if its too sticky add a little more flour
Roll out dough onto a floured surface & use a cutter to make people (or shapes)
Cool on a wire rack. Leave plain or decorate with icing
