Very light period
Hi everyone,
I'm new here so bear with me. My partner and I have been TTC for 4 months. This month, my period started on time but it is unusually light. I have been spotting for 3 days. Pardon the TMI but I have been wearing a pad but they only get a few marks on them. The bleeding is consistent and bright red. There just aren't any clots and the flow is much lighter than I would normally have. I did a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. But having had a friend who also bled and didn't ever get a postive HPT (she eventually got a positive blood test), perhaps the wishful thinking part of me is wondering if I could still be pregnant? When should I do another test? Anyone else had a similar experience?
Would really appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks!

hey hun
i would probably suggest to get a blood test done, at least you will know for sure
fingers crossed that you get a BFP!!!
oh and welcome to bellybelly :)

I had a similar experience with my first 2 pregnancies. Wait a few days and if AF doesn't appear as normal then test again, it may just be that you are testing too early. It took 3 tests with a couple of days inbetween before I got a BFP my first 2 pregnancies. Although the tests are very sensitive there are a lot of factors which can vary their accuracy.
Good luck, hope you get good news soon:D

Hi there. Thanks for the reply. I had a blood test on Tuesday which would have been about 16 dpo and it was negative so it seems I just did have a super light period. I have never had one like that in 18 years but it would have to happen when we are TTC just to confuse me! My partner is off overseas for a couple of months so we won't get another chance to try until Feb so an enforced break for a few months now. I don't mind though. At least I won't be sending myself silly on the TWW for a few months! Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for your good wishes and right back at you guys!
It has been interesting knowing I'm not pregnant. I think it has made me realise how frequently we get pregnancy-like symptoms. If I didn't know any better I would be thinking I was pregnant. I have never had such a light period in my life. I have type 1 diabetes and my blood sugars have been low a lot, my boobs are a bit sore, I've been a bit dizzy, a bit nauseous and really tired. If I was still in the two week wait, I think I would be getting myself all excited. I have done a couple of HPTs in the last week just to make sure it wasn't just a case of testing too early. It has probably been good though because when we start trying again in Feb, hopefully I won't read too much into my potential early pregnancy signs knowing that I have them even when I am definitely not pregnant!
It has now been 2 weeks since the spotting started so I am definitely not pregnant.
I'm actually a bit concerned about my cycles. Before I went on the pill in 1997, I had substantial weight gain, cyst-like acne, excessive hair and my periods disappeared for a couple of months. I went on Diane and had been on that up until August this year. I'm just hoping this almost non-existent period is not the beginning of PCOS-like symptoms. Will wait and see what happens this month. I am using OPKs so hopefully I will be able to see if I ovulate this month and period is due around 19th. Fingers crossed it all goes back to normal this month!
Good luck to everyone and I hope that we all get our bubs sooner rather than later.
