Christmas lunch/dinner for 2?

At the moment we are planning to be at home for christmas, we are moving house next week so it would be nice to have some time at the new place to settle in over christmas, and i dont know if we will be able to afford to go anywhere after moving!

Anyway...was after some ideas for christmas lunch or dinner for two. I want it to be a special day, being DD's first christmas (only she will be having boring old milk!), but I don't want to have to spend hours in the kitchen, which would be impossible with DD anyway! But also something different from the everyday stuff I cook.

I'm not a fan of seafood, either eating or cooking, so that's out and i am scared of roasting poultry :lol: We are also fairly traditional, I don't like curries or spicy foods, DF doesn't like too many vegies :rolleyes: Hope that helps! I joked the other day we might just be having vegemite sandwiches! :p

our first xmas as 2 was very simple but I love to cook so most of my ideas are out, but how bout a small rolled turkey roast thos frozen 1 or 2kgs steggle ones are yummmy we love the thigh ones but the breast ones are yummy, as you said spedning hours in kitchen wont happen, you could cheat and use the frozen roast vegies :lol: or woolies usually have precut roast vegies so its just a matter of putting in oven, buy a yummy plum pudding in a tin... make some punch or a nice bottle of wine or a stubby of beer what ever you like

ok I read DH doesn't like vegoes, you could have the turkey cold served with salads

Every year I do roast Pork with ham with associated Veggies for the main. The entree is usually Prawn ****tail though... Dessert is usually apple pie or plum pudding with custard. Throughout the day you will find a fruit platter, bowl of choc and nuts on my table as well...

This year it's just going to be me, DH & DS so we are thinking of going out for Chrissy Dinner. That way I don't have to fuss over anything....with a week to go I don't think I'll want to cook a thing. We will do a fancy breakfast instead & open pressies & make a big deal about it for DS.

Something easy, but still traditional, get a Turkey Breast Roast. I see them all the time in the frozen section where the chickens and stuff usually are (I think). They are made by Inghams and are absolutely DELICIOUS! Its nothing big, but its easy, and traditional all the same :D

When we were at home with just the girls we had a BBQ and made sure we had special salads, drinks, desert & treats. All could be done before hand so all DH had to do on the day was cook the meat.
Have done the turkey roll and it is easy. You can have it hot or cold.

I think I'll get one of those turkey roasts from the supermarket and do some roast vegies, or if it's going to be hot make a couple of small salads. I'll make it dinner instead of lunch, will probably be easier to organise!

For dessert I might get a couple of pre-made mini pavlovas and have them with some cream and strawberries and mango. I'm so excited about christmas this year, will be DD's first christmas and also our first christmas together, by ourselves, every other year we've had it with either of our parents so will be nice to have one at home! I just hope DF doesn't decide at the last minute to go to one of the parent's places instead...
