Well just as the heading says, how many days do you think?
DS has been dry for about 5 nights in a row, but then was wet one night, then dry again about another 4 so far.

I actually don't know the answer because my DD4 hasn't had a dry night whilst wearing a nappy. Last week she flattly refused to wear a night nappy anymore so we have gone cold turkey. We've had 2 wet nights. However, we do take her to the loo at 10pm and then again at 6am.
I remember my friend ditching the nappy after her daughter was mostly dry after a month.
Personally if your son is dry more often then not then ditch the nappy but be prepared for some accidents..goodluck
I think from memory with DD1 I waited a few weeks then got rid of the nappy. We had a couple of accidents but I invested in some of those mats you put over the sheet and instead of changing the whole bed you just pull the mat off. They are fantastic and I can take them with us if we go anywhere.
Yeah - I have bought 2 of the mats. Hmm - might give it a bit longer then ditch it soon
We were a bit over the top and defentatily had a waterproof sheet on before ditching them, we waited a good couple of months but have been very fortunate that we have'nt had a wet bed yet. We used pullups to start with so if they did wet the chances were they would feel it DD did!!! but Ds slept through it all. We always take them to the toilet before going to bed..
We told DD1 she had to be dry 5 nights in a row before she could wear undies to bed. She was so she did. She hardly ever has any accidents now.

what are these mats, where do you get them and how much are they!! i want some for DD2 when she starts TT they sound excellent:

as you leave in Melb it is pretty easy to get as i know the name of the supplier. They are called mediquip. The mats are called Conni, and they are especially for children. You can look Mediquip up online.
I found with my boys that we never managed a certain number of dry nights with a nappy. DS1 would go 3 or 4 nights in a row dry, but that's all. He started insisting he wanted to wear undies to bed so I thought what's the worst that can happen. Turns out without a nappy he didn't wet. In over two years of him being out of a night nappy he'd probably have wet the bed 10 times all up. I don't think DS2 was ever really dry at night in nappies for more than a night or so, but same deal. He asked to wear undies to bed and stayed dry all night. He's only wet the bed maybe 4 times in a year.
I think with my boys that what they did in nappies wasn't really indicative of what they would do in undies. If the nappy is there then they might wet it, but knowing it's not they don't - if that makes sense.
J was doing really well, but is quite sick at the moment, so we have gone back to being wet at night, so have put him back in nappies till he improves.
