School uniform too big!
I have now bought my DD1's first school uniform. I got the smallest size they have but it is still way too big and she really looks very silly in it. So I thought I would have it made smaller. They want to charge me over $100 to have 3 items made smaller! I didn't even pay that much for the clothes. Any ideas? Has anyone else done this before?

Not sure - but i wouldn't be doing it until January. Make sure it fits well then :)

im assuming you had to buy through the school... are you able to buy clothes from elsewhere, like Kmart, Lowes, Best & Less?

Don't do anything until just before school starts as they can have a growth spurt over Christmas.
What are the items you have?
Most things can be easily fixed at home or the other option is to go to one of the altering places in shopping centres and get them to take it in so you can easily let it out later.

Maybe you could see if a dress maker can alter them for you, should be a lot cheaper.

hmmmmm pretty much every preppy i know had uniforms that were 2 big i think it looks cute xoxox

I'm going to try at a few more places. This was LookSmart in a shopping center that quoted me these prices. I'm going to have it done in Jan but am trying to find out how much it will cost me first. I hope she does have a growth spurt and they fit better. The clothes are from the school are you cannot replace with generic ones. The problem is she will only be in this school for next year and by the end of the year our house will be finished and we will be moving 60km away. So she will have to go to a new school and I don't want to spend so much on her uniform if she is not going to use it for too long. I wish I was good with a sewing machine!

As it's the end of the school year there might be someone who has a child who has outgrown their uniform or is moving away so you can get it second hand. Contact the school and see if they can help.
If this is the case take the new one back as it's not worth spending alot of money on a uniform for such a short time.

Most schools have a clothing pool you can buy clothes from. Check your local op shops too. They usually have all the local uniforms there, & there's no point spending $30 when you can spend $3 on something.
Good luck :)
