Chance of Premmie Baby??
Not sure if this should go here, but just wondering if anyone knows the risk of having a premature baby when:
a) father was born at 26weeks
b) mother wanted to be born at 30weeks (doctors managed to delay til term)
Or should it be a question for the Ob appointment next month??
Thanks

Hi Belle - I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I would think that the reasons why the father was born prematurely and the mother almost was would be important as to whether there is a risk. So based on that I would ask your OB. I have never heard of prematurity being hereditary, but I am not in the medical profession. I do believe that some causes of prematurity such as pre-eclampsia may have an increased risk if someone in your close family has had it before.
Sorry! Probably haven't been much help, but I am sure your OB would be able to advise.

Thanks Janie, I have done some research and there is belief it could be a factor, but it is unknown to what extent... Just wanted to see if anyone on here had been premmie, and delivered a premmie baby just to gauge an idea IYKWIM
Will definately be giving it to the Ob, poor lady doesn't know what she's in for with me

Not sure... my midwife said that she didn't believe there was a connection unless there was an obvious heritable condition (which is not present in my case), but thought I'd add my details FYI. My Mum had her three kids 2, 3 and 4 weeks early and I had DD at 35 weeks.

Thanks for the replies... just more worried given partner was born soo early, and I was wanting to come quite early too.
Will definately have to find out reasons why partner was born so early, and if there was a reason behind my early attempt for the Ob to make an informed assessment of the risks
