My baby has a sucking blister on her lips...

how do i fix this?
She got it when she was only a couple of days old..
can i fix it or does it fix itself?

izzy gets them all the time, they fix themselves up! its probaly not even the same one she had when she was born, so long as its not bleeding dont stress too much :)

no its not bleeding and you can only really see it after she has fed (i can see it all the time but i know what im looking at LOL) she gets like the inside of her lips a milky white, and sometimes they peel, maybe only 3 times since she was born, and not in the last couple of weeks.

When I went to my ABA meeting I got "wow look at that sucking blister - good feeding" so I figured it wasn't a problem LOL. They don't seem to cause any discomfort and go away on their own. :hug:

It is totally normal and nothing to be concerned about. bubbas get them all the time, and as my LC told me, it's a good sign of a bubba doing its thang lol!

as she gets bigger they will appear alot less often as their mouths are bigger and the hold on the boob is different ITMS.

Hun, I'm no expert but it sounds like thrush to me. Anelise has almost identical things to what you've described and she has thrush. We got something called 'Nilstat Oral Drops' from the chemist. She has the little blister on the inside of her bottom lip, milky spots inside her mouth and milky, peeling lips. The drops are definitely helping now :)

Hamish used to get the sucking blisters alot , he was a great feeder and got the nickname Mr Blister

My DD used to get this too, I don't really remember when it stopped but think she definitely had them till about 8 weeks - looked worst straight after a feed and did peel off sometimes. I never did anything just remember asking at ABA if normal and they said yes.

My ds got them all the time. They would heal themselves then a few days later another one would appear. He stopped getting them around 4 months. It only freaked me out when the blister skin bit was hanging on by a thread but once it got to that stage it usually just fell of while feeding.

Laa used to get them all the time too, it's nothing to worry about :)

I am sure DS was about 12 mnths or older the last time he had them. He is nearly 21 mnths now and these things do get a bit hazy :redface:

DS used to get them up until about 12 weeks, every now and then the skin on the blister would kinda hang off his lip and it would come off, its VERY normal, and not painful
