Hi Girls
I am after some advice from other people with PCOS that are TTC that are currently using clomid or have used clomid.I have just taken my 5 tabs for 5 days(50mg) and am now at day 14 and still have not ovulated.I have been using ovulation preditors but nothing yet....Has anyone else ovulated late or got any advice?

I don't have PCOS, but I took Clomid (days 5-9, 50mg) and O'd quite late (but earlier than I had off Clomid). I didn't get a +OPK until CD19 and I O'd on CD21. That was my 1st cycle of Clomid and I got pg that cycle. I hope you have the same luck with it!
Is your doc monitoring you via bloods or u/s? My OB kept an eye on my follicles from around day 13 which was really helpful.

I have PCOS and had 4 cycles of clomid. On my first cycle (taking the lowest dosage clomid for 5 days from day 3-7) I had my ovulation confirmed by bloodtest on CD21, but think I O'd on day 17. On the other cycles I wasn't monitored at all by my doc (which is a big no-no) so I used the OPK tests and got a positive on CD 15, then didn't ovulate on cycle 3 at all (used OPKs for two weeks!) and then on the fourth cycle got a positive on CD 16. So... it was a patchy result for me. I thought that if clomid made you ovulate, that it would do so in a 'textbook' fashion ie you O on CD 14 and then AF (or BFP) on CD29. But it wasn't the case for me. In fact, my cycle were long, 32 days, 31 days, 37 days and 31 days. In my case clomid didn't work and I have since moved on to IVF.
So don't panic - it can still happen for you, but just be a little slower than you might have hoped. Fingers crossed you O soon and then get a BFP.

Have had my 21 day blood test and they came back quite good.I did 'O' on about day 10-11 :D and my progesterone level came back at 33.Is this level good as at day 22?I'm pretty sure ovulation occurs at about 15.I'm just not real sure about progesterone levels. :-s

Thats great news Kirsty! I have heard that OPK's are unreliable for women with PCOS. Fingers crossed you get a BFP!

Just an update....I'm not pregnant this month as AF has arrived.I guess I just start over again, have another appt with my specialist but hopefully because my body went well on clomid 50mg he won't up the dosage as all thoses hormones were hard to get used to again(and not just for me but for hubby too!).Am a little disappointed 8-[ it didn't happen first time on clomid but at least the clomid is having the right affect on my body.

I have another question regarding ovulation and clomid.I have just done a OPK and it has come back a faint positive but its day 17.I guess my question is how late is to late to ovulate?Angel you said previously that you O'd on day 21 and got a BFP.Do I still have a chance?

I reckon that as long as you do ovulate and you BD around the time you O then you're in with a great chance, doesn't matter if you O on CD14 or CD40! Plenty of people with long cycles still get pg!

Since you know so much about clomid I thought I'd ask you about taking your temps while on clomid.Did you find that they were accurate?Its just that I read a rather disheartening article on the net saying taking your temps while on clomid is a waste of time! ](*,) Also I have had a triphasic temp shift a couple of days ago, where my temp goes down 9-10 days after O and then it has bounced back up again.They also said this is not accurate as the clomid does this!I'm sooooo frustrated!! #-o Where as normally it indicates implantation....help I'm losing my mind! :-({|=
Aww Kirsty *hugs*. It can be really frustrating can't it! I too read that clomid can cause higher temps and pregnancy-like symptoms for some people. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to tell if those things are due to the clomid or a pg until after you find out whether or not you are in fact pg.
My temps were always fairly erratic anyway, so I couldn't really tell if the clomid had any effect on them, but I think it's probably something that would vary from person to person. If you have a look in the 'Charting Your Cycle' forum you'll find a link to my pg chart in the successful conceptions sticky thread if you're interested in having a look.
It is sometimes possible to have a dip in temp in the middle of your LP without being pg, even if you're not on clomid. I've read that it's due to a hormone surge (can't remember which one at this point in time) but you don't necessarily have to be pg to get it. However that said, it can be a really good pg sign. I had a temp dip then a rise at 5DPO with this pg.
I'm sure all of the not knowing is driving you absolutely crazy! When do you think you will test? Sending you lots of luck and BFP vibes!

I think I might test on 13-14 DPO just so I can be sure.....only one more day!!!!I just don't want to have the dissappointment of a bfn.But so far my temps are still climbing and my boobs are sooooo sore and normally approaching AF they are starting to get less sore.I guess even if this cycle is a waste I know that the clomid is having an increasing affect on my body.

I just wanted to say HI and to hang in there. I am a PCOS sufferer and used Clomid for 5 cycles - I am now 11 weeks pregnant with our first child!!! =D>
For me I was started on 25mg of clomid, then moved to 50 mg and then moved to 100mg - it was the 2nd cycle of 100mg that did the trick - my ovulation levels were something like 130!!! The increase in doses were all under specialist supervision.
In regards to using the OPK - I used the ones from Safeways (fortel is the brand) which are rather cheap compared to what you get in the chemists! I was meant to ovulate around day 14 but my cycles were all different so I brought a couple of packs and started testing from day 11 onwards!! I got a VERY strong positive on the OPK on Day 16 and by Day 30 I tested positive for pregnancy!!!
I used to chart my temp etc but once I was on Clomid they were all over the place so I gave up in the end and depended on counting days, OPK and of course a pregnancy test!
My husband was also very good throughout - I was very discouraged after the first couple of cycles and my husband kept reminding me that we had to give it a few cycles for my body to adjust and get into a routine with Clomid. He was very right - 5 cycles of clomid wasn't a big deal compared to the amount of time we have spent and would have spent trying to have a child without Clomid (it would have lead nowhere).
By the way - I had terribly sore boobs on Clomid!!! The headlights were on full beam ALL the time as well!! Eeeekk!!!
Anyway, I think I have written enough of a novel now - I just wanted to share our experiences with you to give you some hope. I am sorry it is soooo long!!! Hang in there - I know how frustrating it can be but if it works it will all be worth the wait (apart from the nausea anyway!!! LOL)

Thanks for the inspiring story, it has given me added incentive to keep going.........I was going to give it 4 cycles on clomid then try something else!!(now I'll leave it a bit longer!)I'm only on 50mg and its my second cycle on it.My specialist hasn't given me any indications that hes going to up the dose.My last cycle I tested at 33 at day 21 so this time round I hope its more, but I won't find out till monday as hes away!!! ](*,) He seemed happy too at the progesterone count of 33 so I guess its good(at least I O'd!).
Its funny you said your last test came back at 130 as thats the exact same count my sister got on her first cycle of clomid 50mg and she got PG!

Do hang in there .... I know it is really hard having to count each day out and all the waiting. I too thought I would only give Clomid 4 cylces but in the end so glad I stuck it out for another one!!
It takes a while for the body to regulate on Clomid I think - at least you have started to ovulate. I hadn't ovulated as such for over 18 months so it is not surprising it took a few cycles to get everything going!!!
That is interesting about your sister having the same levels when she got pregnant!! Wonder if it is a standard thing for all that get pregnant??
Do try the OPK thing - it will cost you a little bit but if you can start testing around day 11 or 12 then do it every day you will find it much easier to time when you need to do it as such!! The fortel packet tells you the best day to do the test. Clomid can interfer with it but only if you test a couple of days after Clomid or while you are actually taking it. The OPK helped us so much with the last cycle - and it obviously worked!!
