Is this damaging him?

I BF DS2 to sleep ...we ll try too, he wont fall asleep on the boob anymore which makes me so sad :(
At night he has a bath wiht myslef an his brother then we get him dressed and then I feed him. He will fall asleep in my arms, so I pop him into his bassinette next to our bed and he gurgles and jerks around for about 5 mins then falls alseep?
I know when reading the science of parenting it says kids dont need to dry to be in distress...do think by doing this he is distressed and going into himself and falling asleep?
He isnt crying at all just grunting sort of and winding down?

Any help would be great..I would hate to think he is distressed or upset :(

i dont think hes distressed or upset at all maybe just a light sleeper explaining why he sort of wakes from moving him from the boob to the basinette (IMO) I definatly think if he was upset or anything there would be crying especially at his age. I really do think hes just resettling himself down after being moved and its absolutely nothing to worry about but infact a good thing that he can self settle a such a young age i know my daughter was the opposite took 10 mins of crying and carrying on to get her back to sleep after putting her down

He is asleep now...all by himself...hope he doesnt wean early too :(

cant help you with the weaning mine both decided around 9 weeks my milk wasnt good enough for them! He shouldn't (fingers crossed) wean early just being a very good boy for mummy learning how to sleep well so young

I'd say not in distress. My son doesn't go to sleep easily, but he snuffles and twitches and rolls around. I sit watching him with the odd "go to sleep". He goes off in about 5 minutes now.

He used to get very distressed about going to sleep. He would scream blue murder if you stopped patting him before he was asleep. Now he goes off all on his own. The Science of Parenting points out the children in distress ONLY don't cry if their cries have been ignored, for the most part. So don't worry: if you respond to your child, you're not going to have much silent distress.

You may just get what you wish for hun....Myles was a shocking sleeper..and i prayed for this one to be better :)

Sounds like a happy content little man to me. :D Like LZ pointed out it's babies who have learnt not to cry out that can be distressed without vocalising it.

I think some babies just don't like falling asleep on the boob as much as others. I could feed #1 to sleep every time, but #2 is not as fussed about it. It has no effect on our BF'ing, she still loves to feed, just not when she's ready for sleep.

My DS was one of those bubs :)

He doesn't like to be cuddled or rocked now (at almost 2) and I always wonder if it's because i never did it before but he never needed it or liked it, i was so blessed! He is a very affectionate toddler though and is constantly seeking cuddles and kisses!
