Does it get any easier???

Hi I am new here and after 21 months of my twins (and their 4 year old brother) I have decided to get forum help....

My twins (boy/girl) are driving me mad - forget about how great it is etc.....I know all of that but right now IT ISN'T GREAT!!

We are really struggling. The crazy thing is? I have a great 4 year old, my husband and I employ all appropriate measures of behavioural managment, but we seem to have the most shockingly behaved kids ever!!!

Does it get any easier???? Please tell me it does!!!

Doona- Huge hugs. My twin boys are now 5, and I can tell you it DOES get easier. Once they start discovering their personalities more, is when I found they settled down. Some days they are the best of friends, and other days all they do is fight, which is normal.

sorry don't have twins either - but just wanted to say I'm sure it'll get better - well atleast I hope so - I'm holding onto this glimmer of hope - I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and dead set this hope is the only thing that gets me through some days - especially Mondays :rolleyes:

I am sitting here with a smile on my face knowing that it is not only me that has this problem. I also have 21 month old Boy/Girl twins, and they are a handful.
I am guessing things will get better once they can communicate better so that is what I am holding out for.

I have 2 year old boy/girl twins and it is a bit of a struggle at the moment. They are so close to each other most of the time, but when they fight it is awful. Both of them are covered in bite marks:redface: and I can't seem to stop this behaviour. I am taking it day at a time, I am sure it will get better.

Hi I have twins 18 months boy/girl. My twins play really well together because sam just loves his cars and Hana loves her babies. But when they do fight Hana is the stronger personality, sam just crys and runs to me and Hana gets what she wants. I find my 4 year old more of a handful than the twins.

just wanted to send you some hugs, i only have one so no advice really on that front. But i know DD went thought a terror phase at about 20 months. tantrums, screaming, yelling, being so naughty i came so close to loosing it! I kept up with the methods i used, and tried to keep my cool and after about three weeks i had my lovely little girl back. I hope for you that its just a phase and they are just testing thier boundries. Hope you find some good advice and other twin mummies to chat to! ....wecome to BB by the way!! :)

oh boy! I know exactly what you mean!! my girls will play very happily together but as soon as they are in competition for a toy or for my attention - it's ON! biting, pinching, hair pulling, pushing. It doesn't matter if I'm right there on in another room.
We use time out here (they sleep in beds now so they have time out in a cot) which works but it is hard to be consistent - especially since I don't have one who stands their ground and one who runs to me and cries - they both stand their ground and try to get a mark on their sister until one of them is too hurt to continue or I intervene. So most of the time I don't really know WHO to send to time out - since I can't tell who started it or what caused the disagreement. Usually I just time out both of them!

Anyway, you're not alone! I'm sure it will get better when they learn to talk to each other instead of using (rather forceful!) body language! I have noticed that even though they are talking quite a bit now, they still don't really talk to each other much - they prefer to communicate in their own way. So I am hoping words start flowing between them sooner rather than later.

My boys are 4 and they wrestle each other all the time but then in saying that they also play together nicley sometime too. Oh the joy.

Oh boy, I have just read this for the first time - I have 10 month old twin girls and a 6 year old boy. Well it looks like I've got some fun time ahead of me then eh? Just when I thought I'd got this twin mum thing down pat :rolleyes:

And big hugs to you, it sounds to me it's not just the kids that need time out - mummy needs some time out too! :doh: Well I hope they were good for you today on Mothers day :D
