I don't want to look/feel like this anymore - it's time for a change!

I am so sick of feeling bad about my body; catching a reflection in a shop window of my hammy arms; not being able to buy that cute dress because my back fat sticks out; having to cross my arms over my flabby tummy every time I sit down. I am sick of feeling un-feminine, of feeling bad around my thinner friends, of having to wear trackies because my skinny jeans no longer fit. It's time for a change!

My goal is to lose 17kg in a year...a reasonable goal I think. I have never embarked on a weight loss challenge before, so I do admit, I am more than a little bit scared that I will fail. My current weight is 73kg, my goal is to get back down to 60, and then 56. I'm only 161cm, so this is a good weight for my height. I would be a very tiny person (and was once) naturally without all this weight on. I'm going to aim for a 1-2 kilo loss every month, which again, seems reasonable. I am going to cut out junk foods, and start eating breakfasts and lunches again, as I usually only eat dinner :shakehead: and healthy snacks inbetween. I am also going to get up at a regular time each morning. I am pretty sure I will be able to achieve all of this, what worries me is the exercise. I'll admit it, I'm a tad lazy. I am also very unfit; I'm ashamed to say that running, even for a few meters, will puff me out :redface: I've tried gums, but lack the motivation. I am going to try powerwalking and swimming as my main forms of exercise, as well as incidental exercise, such as taking the stairs instead of the lift, and walking instead of busses and trams.

I am ready for a new, healthier, happier me :D I feel that when I start taking better care of myself and my body, other good things will follow too. So if anyone wants to join me on this journey and help keep me motivated, as well as getting some motivation in return, please feel free to join me! If anyone has any advice/stories, that would be most welcome too. By this time next year, I WILL have reached my goal weight :D

Well done hun! 1-2KG a month is an AWESOME goal and totally achievable! Although don't rely on weight alone and get someone to measure you (pm me if you like and i'll tell you wear). You haven't inclded any weight trasining in your goal but you should think about it - seriously building muscle mass is a great way to boost your metabolism and have your body working for you!

I'll join the club. I need to loose some kilos. I won't even get on the scales yet as I am afraid they will tell me I am the biggest I have ever been. I would like to loose 10kilos or very close to it. Bring on the pretty clothes. But I am also ttc so if a miracle happened the weight loss would have to go out the window but not exercise.

Hey emmy! 10kg is a great goal, and I agree, bring on those pretty (and small) clothes :D Yep if I get utd, I will stop focussing so much on weight loss and more healthy eating and exercise.

CQ: Ahhh yes forgot to add that one! Deff want to do some weights training, I have like zero core strength atm :redface: I'd like to tone everywhere; bum, arms, tummy, thighs. DF is a stick, so he has no issue with wanting to lose weight, but I think he's pretty interested in weights training too, might be a fun thing to do together (please do pm me where I can go to get measured, as it's something I wouldn't know how to do myself and a great way to see what I've achieved month to month, I'd love it :))

My DH is a stick also. I hate it.
Also I have a whole wardrobe or stunning gorgeous little clothes just praying one day I can wear them again. they are size 8 & 10 and right now a 12 is a tight squeeze even 14s can be tight around the rear end. I'd love to feel like I had a good figure again. Now I am off to hook into a sausage sandwiche. Should make it my last for a while.

I lost 18kgs before falling pregnant, but have put most of it back on.. :wall:

I'm about 104 kgs now and would like to get back to the 90 I was before having Liam - maybe I can aim for this time next year??

A problem I have at the moment is that I have plantar fascitis (heel spurs) and doing anything on my feet is not currently achievable. Last time I lost the weight, I did lots of walking, but I can't do that - yet. So some weights, sit ups, push ups, etc are the order of the day - and with a toddler and working full-time it can be hard to fit it in!

Hopefully with you guys motivating me to have something to post, I will get on the train! :dance:

I have dropped 20 kilos and am now going to be putting it into a blog or book this year.

As for shaping up and building muscle, I recommend an exercise called callanetics - google it you will find my site in Australia - it doesn't matter what your size, it is gentle and effective. I dropped one and a half dress sizes without losing weight - my pictures are on the website.

Just a word of caution - changing everything leaves you overwhelmed and feeling deprived - just make a few small changes you can really stick to and then when you have mastered those, add in a few more.......

So start with drinking a bit more water, not eating junk food and walking once a week and doing callanetics twice a week.....don't worry about anything else - this is enough for the first month and you will see results.......

Then, next month add in another walk and maybe drop some of the high sugar foods and eay a bit more protein......small steps will mean you stick with it and see great results!

Just move forward all the time - at your own pace!!

Nettie: 14kg sounds like a great goal! Bummer about the heel spurs, they really hurt :hug: What about some swimming? That is going to be one of my main forms of exercise whilst the weather is still warm, and it would take the pressure of you feet perhaps? Hopefully you will be able to find some way to fit it in,m with your job and ds (whose pic on your ticker is simply adorable :))

Tracey: Thankyou so much for posting in here, and with such fantastic advice! I agree completely, small steps! I am doing exactly as you suggested; starting by cutting out bad foods, drinking more water and walking more. I have also checked out your site and read about callanetics, and am intrigued. I am sooooo unmotivated by gyms (been there, done that) and would prefer something I can do at home. One question though; would callanetics still be okay to do alongside other exercises (walking and swimming for me) that will make me lose weight?

Count me in! this time last year I was running lots and feeling like I was on track to losing about 8kgs to get to my 'i can deal with it' weight! Unfortunately, i stopped exercising and I have put on more weight so 15kgs would be my ideal now!!! How did that happen?????? :redface:

Count me in....again! I do really want to do it. I need to do it. I am so tired of feeling like I do. Fat, uncomfortable, unable to buy clothes I lik, getting puffed out climbing my stairs, no energy to run after the kids.....I'm going to get some serious health issues if I continue to put on weight.

So my ultimate goal is about 30kg :redface: But I will break it into 10kg lots, because 30kgs just seems soooo much! It's very overwhelming. I am going to sit down when I get the time and write out specific goals and whatnot into a pretty book I brought just for me! Lets see if I can acheive my goals this time....

I have 4kg left to lose to get to my original goal weight, but another 10kg (with or without the 4kg just mentioned) would be awesome! I've been told we'll be invited to a wedding in WA in August, so 10kg by then would be fantastic !!

Least then too, I'll be a tad bit closer to my sisters size/weight and I'll no longer be the "fatter" sister. We'll be a similar size.

Bust - take it from your nipple line and around (don't squish ;) )
Chest - under boobs but as high up as you can go
Waist - feel for the very tip of your hip and just above that
Hips - measure the largest part even if it's quite low
Thighs - measure half way point between your hip bone at the front and the top of the knee
Upper arm - half way between the dent in the outside of your shoulder and your elbow

Lees/Tracey - is this where you measure??

I know I am only new to Belly Belly but I thought that I would pop in and say that I am also trying to lose weight - although Ihave a LOT to lose. I did have 43 kg to lose but now I have lost 13kg and have only 30 to go. The first 10kg I dropped really easily but then I hit a brickwall. The last 3kg have been coming off at a rate of 200-400gm per week. Not heaps but it is still a loss! I have probably about 12 months at least to go before I will come close to goal.

I am still breastfeeding so this makes me very hungry and until I drop my intake of food further I think the weightloss will be really slow.

I don't get to exercise much although I do use my Wii Fit every day for at least 1/2 hour. The first 10kg I didnt do any exercise for....

I just wanted to say that it is weird but I can see a bigger difference when I am losing slowly as to when I lose quickly. I use my scales and I weigh myself on a daily basis. To be honest this is one of the best motvators for me. To realise that I no longer weigh 3 digits and I really am dropping kilos is an amazing feeling. I use weight watchers online but only because I love the fact that I can track what I am eating and Idont have to actually calculate anything myself.

Well, I have already started, but I am definitely making my weightloss and fitness a priority for 2010. I am aiming to loose between 0.5 - 1kg each week (which I know is completely acheivable for myself). I go back to work from maternity leave in May, and want to be as close to goal as possible (being within My BMI is a requirement of the job). When I reach my 'offical' goal of 71kg (top of my BMI range), I will then look at loosing a little more - hopefully down to between 60-65kg (size 10ish), will see how Igo and how feel when I get there.

I am back on track after a bit of a blowout over Christmas - come into the Diet and Weightloss Support thread. They have really kept me motivated!

This is great girls, lets do this. Tomorrow morning DF is coming with me for my first morning workout :D Just a bit of a powerwalking and some stairs, but I'm going to keep it up every morning. Wish me luck!

Best of luck gorgeous. I would love to loose 10 kgs and am already looking into small changes in our diet but I have no idea how to fit exercise into an already jammed mummy schedule? Suggestions ladies? I'm going to jump onto the diet/exercise threads for some help. I always seem to do this every so often and never get anywhere.
