Oven - gas or electric?

I am getting a new oven and most seem to be gas hotplate but electric oven.

Are electric ovens better? I have only ever cooked with gas.

Which do you prefer?

I just bought a new set (Westinghouse) and I got electric oven and gas cooktop. I've always had gas oven in houses I've owned, but electric in some rentals. I actually prefer electric because it seems to cook more evenly. Mine takes less than 3 mins to heat up to the right temperature - check this because some take longer to preheat.

We brought a new stove and got a free standing electric one. I prefer the electric oven to the gas as the heat is more even and like Div said it does heat up quicker, but I can't comment on new gas ovens as I have only ever used older ones.

yes electric oven is best for baking but gas is best for stove top cooking.

Cool...now which one?? Too many to chose from LOL

we have elec oven, gas cooktop - both Bosch - when we first moved in here we had a very old Bosch oven - prob 20 years - but still worked well - and now replaced it with another Bosch - still happy :). You could take a look at the productreview dot com dot au website.
