He sweats so much!

DS sweats a lot - more specifically his head sweats a lot. Sure it's been warmer than usual here recently (around 30 degrees), but I've noticed it before this.

After getting him up from a sleep, there are huge, huge wet patches on his cot sheet. Originally I thought it was drool, but have since worked out it is definitely sweat. We don't overdress him and he doesn't sleep under covers - yet he still has these huge sweat patches where his head was.

Is it normal that he sweats so much? Should I be doing anything more to try and stop it?

Sterla, my DS is the same.....even dressed in next to nothing with no covers on, he is such a sweaty little critter. He wakes up soaked, mainly around his head & hair like you describe. I've usually got a fan going in his room now even on the cooler days and it seems to help a bit.

I figure he just runs hot most of the time....unlike me, I'm a cold frog. As for whether its normal or not, I'm not really sure, but I'm not too concerned. We check his temp if we're worried and its always fine.

Thanks lollybaby, that's good to know. I guess DS must just be warm bubba. It's funny - cause he can have cool feeling arms and legs, yet still soak his sheets where his head lies!

Its bizarre isn't it, DS is exactly the same. Does your little one have a lot of hair? I can sorta see from your ticker pic....anyhoo, DS has a lot of hair for a bub and I think that probably makes it worse. Don't they say that we regulate our temperature through our head or something like that? :dunno: Maybe that has something to do with it.

My DS also sweats a lot - and has a full head of hair too! Maybe it's a hair thing...

Although he gets hot all over - but then so do I. I just figured he got it from me. My body temp rises when I sleep and so does DS's - I think it's just a natural thing..

My son has a head full of hair and is a sweaty little thing too. I dress him pretty cool (he sleeps in just a nappy or nappy and singlet on these warm nights), and during the day indoors he's in similar clothes. The most important thing is to keep him hydrated, so that moisture he's losing is being replaced.

And stinky!!! Whenever DS wakes up and I get him out of his cot for a cuddle I affectionately call him my stinky / sweaty little critter LOL.

DS is the same but he wont go to sleep without a blanket on him i take it off when hes asleep he sleeps in only a nappy 2 but i think he got it from DH coz hes the same

My DS1 is the same when he sleeps, in the beginning of his sleep is when i find he is the warmest. I try to dress him appropriately to the weather and we also have a ceiling fan so use that on the extra hot nights. I even got his hair cut late last year trying to help the situation but it didn't make much of a difference really. He is also much like his father... It seems to be quite common :)

DS#1 was sweaty from a newborn... at 7 he still is. Drenched hair and face every night. Dosent seem to bother him though, never wakes him.
DS#2 is not a a sweaty guy.
I guess its just the difference between those of us who are warmer and some of us are naturally cooler personal body temps.

Mine are especially bad when they're asleep. Often DS1 will wake up from a sleep completely drenched from the chin up - especially in his hair as well. He's been a big sweater since he was a baby (almost 3 now). He also has a very decent head of hair, but DS2 is only 9 months, and he doesn't have a huge amount of hair yet and even he sweats profusely while he's asleep. It doesn't matter how much or how little they are wearing, they still sweat heaps.

I always check their temps too and they're fine, so I've put it down to genes (they have a grandparent from each side who are big sweaters :redface:) and figure they're just my hot-blooded little boys :D

Oh how gross is it! Elijah is like that, it's grotty lol. I'll have him asleep right under the fan and still there will be a huge sweaty spot right under his head! EEWWWWWW haha and yeah that sweaty smell blurgh... lucky he has a bath and smells all yum at the end of each day.

My Ds3 is a sweater.. We noticed if we cut his hair shorter then normal during the summer months then he sweated less

(ps it isn't military short but short)

not to scare anyone but one of my nieces had a heart problem as a baby and sweating was one of the things my sister was told to look out for. maybe ask your gp.

If I keep DS's hair short he doesn't get so hot...or grumpy!
