Sooo, dd copped a spinning top to the head...
Hi all,
just thought I'd share. My poor little dd copped a in spinning top in the head today, courtesy of ds. He quite delibrately threw it at her, close range, and i wasn't quick enough to stop him. It quite literally missed her fontanelle by { } this much.
It's becoming a regular occurance-ds throwing things, on purpose, at dd, often when he is having a tanty or she is getting a lot of attention. At other times, he's quite affectionate to her, and tries to give her toys and food, etc.
I just don't know how to handle it. Dh smacked ds today  which both of us feel terrible about, but ds could have seriously hurt dd. So far, I've been putting him in a time out corner every time he throws things, for two minutes, explaining why he is there, what he has done wrong, then let him out and attempt to extract an apology, then distract him wiht a new activity. Only to have him turn around 30 seconds later and throw the same thing at dd again
So today he wnt into his room for 10 minutes time out. he screamed hysterically for the first two minutes, then i went and calmed him down and explained the situation, then he quite happily sat out his time out, said sorry and went about his business.
So, any advice, thoughts, opinions on how to handle this kind of random violence from a toddler to a baby would be welcome. Except of course, those telling me how horrible we are for smacking- i already know that, and we don't want to go down that track, hence the fact i'm posting this.
TIA :)
