My ex bestfriend has invited me to her 21st dinner at the end of the month..
I think the only reason why she's invited me is because she came to my birthday drinks and we hung out for a few hours and she said that i should go to her birthday dinner and to be polite i said yeah maybe.
I have made it clear that we can't be friends but we were best friends for 8 years and i feel honored that she has invited me.
But what do you ladies think i should do?
If you made it clear you can't be friends then don't go. If you weren't friends anymore why did she come to your birthday? Maybe she want's to be friends again. Only you know what happened to break up your friendship, can it be repaired?

If you don't want to or can't be friends with her I don't see why you should go? If there is no real relationship there anymore I personally wouldn't.
you know what feels right for you, if you dont see any friendship there i wouldnt go but if you do value it i would IMO XX
Dianne- to answer your questions. She only came because a mutual friend invited her, i didnt know she was coming until she turned up. I did say we could never be friends but if i was to bump into her i wouldnt snob her off i would be civil, ask how she is etc.
There is no repairing our friendship, more i don't want to she caused so much damage to my relationship and we have been so much happier since shes been out of my life.
The only reason i would consider going is because we were best friends for 8 years and it would just be for old times sake and then i would continue living my life with her not in it.
I think you just answered your question there...:
If there is no repairing your friendship I don't know why you are asking for advice.

You have answered your own question really - but it looks like she is extended the hand of ( 8 years) of friendship so you might want to ponder that a bit, but ultimately it's up to you xoxoxo:

I wouldn't even consider it - in my experience birthdays are times for friends and family to celebrate together. If youare neither of those things I wouldn't even be asking the question if you should go...
I am just too nice for my own good i think. I say i have wiped my hands clean of her but here i am asking you ladies if i should attend her 21st.. :doh:
I think i will not go, i can't go down that road again of explaining to her why we can't be friends. Although i didn't cry when our friendship ended i just don't want to cause any unneccessary stress or worry.
So you still care about what she thinks then? She still came to your party?
Ah dunno why I ask these questions...but you don't know what you've got till it's gone.
I won't go into anymore detail but i want to thank you all for stopping me make a very bad decision. I just had to ask your opinions i guess to be told direct that i would be an idiot if i went and i needed to be told that we arent friends so i shouldnt go.
