How much would offer to pay your babysitter?? Please help..

It looks like I might have to ask friends to look after DD more than I though over the next few weeks while her FDC is on holidays.
Mum can help out a couple of days and I can take some leave (i'm trying to save as much A/L as I can before bubs comes so I can have a tiny but of paid leave). I had arranged another FDC but it seems there may have been a mix up with the dates she thought I wanted.

So, if i need to do this then I want to be able to give them some money for doing so. Do I pay them the same as what I would at daycare for the day? I have no idea and I feel bad for even needing to ask such a question. :redface:
I don't know what else to do as we have no family living here. Our closest family member (my parents) are 5 hours away.

I would just offer to pay them what you would pay FDC after your rebate. Or ask them what kind of money they want per day.

when i babysit i charge $20 per hour, but i work in the field, i know FDC wouldnt charge as much as you can claim your CCB

If you usually use FDC and that person is away i would check with the council to see if there is a spot anywhere wlse for that time

When I worked on a casual basis I would charge $15-20 p/h depending on who it was and the level of care required. However I also looked after twins and I was paid $40 per day which was the same as their daycare cost, which didn't worry me
Chances are though (depending on your friends) they'll politely tell you that you don't need to pay them to look after your gorgeous little girl.. if so maybe buy them a little something to say thank you...

A friend of mine had a babysitter while she was on clinical placement and the lady who babysat her son only charged $10 an hour but she had to supply his own lunch and snacks.

If I was closer I would offer to help when I could. Honestly as a friend though - i would much prefer no cash but something more like token of thanks :)
