I really want to g back to study. So many things I want to do!!

I have this urge to go back and study. I have been wanting to do so for a while I just don't know what I want to do as there are so many things.
I have always wanted to own my own beauty salon and considered studying that when I was part way through my youth work stuff but at the same time wanted to finish one thing first.

So now i'm sitting her contemplating what to study, knowing I really can't afford much at the moment. Heres my list of things I want to do.
- Beauty Therapy/masssage (as i've always had a dream of owning my own business)
- teaching (i work in welfare now and enjoy working with young people)
- social work (improve on my skills & get paid more :) )
-maybe event management

I feel so stuck in my job at the moment and feel i either need a change or do more to further my career.

I've just started studying again after a 3 year break due to having babies, so I know where you're coming from.

When I originally started studying back in 2002 (before I had kids) I wasn't doing it for me - i was doing it to please parents and bosses. The field of study/work I was doing wasn't really something I wanted to do or could see myself doing forever. It was only a matter of time before I began to HATE it and resent those who I felt were pushing me to do it.

I quit half way through and had my first bub. Went back to work part time when he was 10 months old (back to the job I didn't like), stuck it out for another 14 months but in the end decided I wanted to be a mum for a while so I resigned when my 2nd bub came along.

Now that I'm a SAHM I've decided to try to use this time and finish off my degree - but have changed my whole study plan etc and am now doing something I know I want to do - and most importantly am doing it for me. The great thing was, all the subjects I completed during my first attempt have been credited to my current degree, so those first few years were not a waste of time and money :dance:

In my own experience and opinion, I think you have a greater chance of success if you follow your dreams, and do something that you really want to do and something that will make you happy. I know what you mean about being stuck in the job and feeling like you need a change I was exactly the same. Obviously I'm not working in my chosen career yet, but i hope when I am, I will enjoy it and be thankful I changed my path and went for something I wanted, not something that would please others!

Follow your dreams is what I say, if its what you truly want, you wont regret it (you'll only regret NOT doing it ;))
