How bad is this? Am I over analysing

So Ive been told I'm going to take over from my boss who has left but it hasn't been announced to my team mates yet. There is two, one male one female.

So we're sitting down together and I've let them know that I can put their travel expenses on my credit card if they need me too and even help them with funds if they need it.

THen, I open my fat mouth and I dont know where this came from, I say "just no porn huh?" :doh:

I have no idea why I said it, they looked a bit shocked at me. I feel like such a ****, it isn't that I think either would use something like that and I think i've made a really bad gaffe.

One said "oh well we're all married so I dont' think we'll use anything like that" and i just said "oh of course"

Now I'm sitting here feeling like a complete fool and I don't know if I should just let it go and use it as a learning experience or try and fix it somehow!

Well I don't know where you work, like if it's a church or something then it probably is a bit daring, but if anyone said that to me I'd laugh because it was a joke and jokes are funny.

Their responses seem a bit drab.

Honestly i would just forget about it, im sure they would have forgotten all about it by now but if you have any issues with it just say you were kidding and didnt know why you said it. I wouldnt dwell over it too much :)

unless you work in a really conservative place I would't worry too much about it. Just laugh it off :)

I love this - DH has got in trouble with things like this more than once! When he went for his visa advice early on, the very straightlaced visa lady said he needed to be careful not to 'co-habit with a resident' as it could affect his visa. He replied, 'so knocking up an Aussie chick is a no-no?'. Hmm, long silence, tumbleweeds etc!

My computer is attached to a projector that we occasionally use for demos, so if someone comes in and switches it on, I get a standard comment to close down my porn browsing... I take it as it's meant (as a joke.)

Yeah I would take it as a joke too - they're response was drab as Slyder said - bit disappoinitng I'd have had a bit of a giggle.

My response would have been ... oh, why not?! :lol: because obviously its a joke!

Maybe they were uncomfy because they were thinking about it ;) hehe

I would have been the same as Leasha and asked why not lol, i thought it was funny and dont understand why they didnt take it as a joke either, bit odd IMO

I would not worry about it too much, most places where I have worked we all would have had a bit of a laugh over it. Just take note for next time, some people just don't have much of a sense of humour ;)
