I had amazing births with both my girls but I really took to my mid wife I had with Lucy's birth.
Im about to start a doula course but I have a terrible habbit of qitting things because they get to hard and I dont think Im smart enough to do it :(
I was thinking of getting in touch with my mid wife, Jodie. Just to see as I go through the course if I need a little help etc? Not a lot of help just a question here and there?

Maybe she's to busy or just doesn't want to get involved with a patient. If this is a bad idea what ideas do you ladies have to help me through? I really want to have the amazing feeling of finishing something and learning something new! I really want to do this doula course but Im scared of how I'll reck it for myself by giving up:rolleyes:

Actually Kass, you know what? You might be surprised at how easy it is for you to do - because its something you have such a passion for.

Don't doubt yourself, or even think negative thoughts about quitting babe - it won't do any good. Positive thinking!! You want to do this yeah? You are passionate about it yeah?

Then you'll do it *shrugs*

So you're looking for someone to mentor you basically? I think it is a great idea and the worst she can say is no - and you wont know if you don't ask. Even if she can't help you out, she may know someone who can.

Are there any Doula's in your area???

I was lucky enough to have a local Doula org whom has 2 Qualified Doulas. I became quite close with one of the Doula's and she mentored me (still does!!) for about 12 months. She took me along to a few of her clients births etc. It really was great.

So I would suggest finding out if there are any other Doula's in your area and ask if they would mind mentoring you. Otherwise, I think I wouldnt hurt to be in touch with your Midwife.

You could do that. But you could also visit one/all of these websites (I havent included links as I'm not up to date with the link policy on BB now):

I am starting a midwifery course this year, and i am lucky enough that my sister works at the hospital i had my bubs at. She does the bookings in the maternity ward. She was talking with some of the midwives who delivered my bub, and both of them TOLD her she had to give me their contact details so that i could call them if i ever needed anything! I am SO excited by that, and i feel really blessed that they are so keen to help me out. One delivered my first son, the other my 3rd, and she was my real inspiration to do the mid course.

So i say, there is no harm in asking. She is either able to or not. She may be really flattered you asked (even if she isn't able to help)
