DS still has bow legs at 2 years of age

DS2 was born with bow legs, he was a big bub and obviously didn't have enough room for his legs in my tummy LOL! I was told that they would straighten once he started walking and by the time he was 2. He saw a physio a few months ago who wasn't concerned too much and said to bring him back in January. DH took him back today. DS2 is just over 2 years old now and his legs are still quite bowed. The left leg has straightened a little, but the right leg is still very bowed. We are being sent a referal to see an orthopedic surgeon at the Royal Children's Hospital. It's doubtful that he'll need surgery, but what can they do?

Has anyone else had a child with bow legs that have taken a bit longer to straighten? Has anyone had any experience with further treatment? If so, please come and share!

He looks so cute with his bow legs LOL, he has a very distinct walk. A bit like a cowboy haha! He looks hilarious when he runs too, it really contributes to his cute personality :lol:.

Anyway, if anyone has any experience or knowledge I'd love to hear from you :D

Does he still wear a nappy ??? My DD#3 is 2, and walks with an in-step....community nurse said dont bother trying to correct it till she out of nappies, as this can sometimes play a role.....
I was also told watch the way kiddies sit...i know all my girls sit in the W shape when on the floor - legs out, knees to the side.....bottom touching the carpet - gawd...i hope that makes sense. Anyway, that can cause bow legged-ness too, so sitting correctly can improve it...
Thats the brief, brief run-down i have got from my nurse. Like i said, when she is outta nappies (im in no hurry....:D) then i will look into it....

Thanks for your reply mbear :D. Yep, he's still in nappies, but I don't think it's contributing? It will be interesting to see if there's a difference once he's TT'd though! Because one of his legs has slightly straightened and the other hasn't they think it's worth getting looked at. I don't think the way he sits causes the problem because he was born with very bowed legs, but I will keep an eye on him from now on :)
