Male equivalent of a Fairy?

I'm throwing DD a party for her 3rd Birthday. There are 2 boys coming. I want to write on the inviite to feel free to come dressed as a Fairy... but what is the Male equivalent of a fairy?

And also, I am happy for people to bring parents but because we're short on space - I want to limit to 1 parent per child and am not fussed if they don't come at all... is the following ok to put on it?

You're not obliged to bring a parent,
But if you'd rather one be present;
Please please keep in mind,
That here space is hard to find;

I would say the fairy equivalent would be an elf?

I think thats a lovely way of putting it, and I would probably not feel happy leaving my 3yr old, but would make sure it was only one of us going.

Also, I think its elfs? Or you could say "garden creatures"?

That's a cool poem. I'd say elf. Fairies and Elves. You probably can have boy fairies too (like in Thumbelina).

Christy - yeah, I know some wouldn't necessarily be happy to drop and run. I only added it because I didn't really know how to start it! :lol: Plus all the kids coming are friends from DD's Creche and they've all been going to creche together since the were babies... so nearly 3 years! :o except for 2 children, 1 is the child of a carer and my DD thinks they're sisters :rolleyes: and the other is the DS of a good friend of mine... and I've already roped her in to help! :rofl:

actually they fey are both sexes .... if you want to get really technical :rofl:

for that age group I'd say Elf though they can be either.
In 'Ben and Holly' (yes I take all my advice from telly :p ) there are male and female fairies and elves. Its the dads like my DH (not all of them, just the ones who are like mine) you need to use the term elf to appease.
