Whether it be at school, with regards to friends/boyfriends, bullying sex stuff etc??
I had a friend ask me the other day why her DD doesn't seem to talk about this, I just thought it was kinda normal for teen girls to not always want to talk about things like this all the time (i never did with my parents)
Am I right in saying this? I don't have a teenage DD YET but I know that one day I might very well be asking the same thing. Is it just a teen thing?
My teenage sister is living with us and when i ask i always get a "dunno" or "nothing" response...although this one has the worst attitude ive ever seen!
I have some faith that out there somewhere there is a 'Gilmore Girl' type relationship mothers have with their daughters!! I hope if i have a girl we will talk about things but who knows..
It depends on the child. My eldest DD has always been sneaky & secretive. She only tells me what she thinks will score her points! :lol: My DS tells me wayyyyy too much sometimes... :redface: My next DD tells me what she feels, thinks, believes, aspires too. Her nighttime dreams, how she feels about certan friends & situations... Much like my DS... My next DD - she's pretty tight chested also...
I know she doesn't tell me everything, but she does tell me a lot. Sometimes it's about her, last week it was about one of her friends.
The stuff she thinks will get her in trouble usually comes well after the event :rolleyes:...but I'm still glad she tells me even if it's a bit late.
Overall I am pretty happy with our relationship. We do girly TV marathons, have D&m convos.....I don't know if it's exactly 'Gilmore Girls' but that's tv, right?
Also, I think it's healthy & normal for teenagers to keep some stuff from their parents...we don't need to know everything although i sure would like to... or maybe not...:think: hmmm
I don't have a teenager yet, but it isn't so long since I was one - and I have siblings who are. I am one of 6 kids - 5 of us were girls.
None of us have ever had that "gilmore girls" type relationship with our mother (none of my female friends did either). It wasn't that we were deliberately keeping stuff from them, but rather it was just 'none of her business'. It would have been strange to talk to my mum about certain things. Even now, we talk alot more and get along pretty well, but I wouldn't talk to her if I had problems with my relationship or sex life for example, it's not really her business, and talk about 'awkward'. :)
