TTC and fake tans??
Hi ladies,
I'm hoping someone can help me out. My sister is getting married next month and she has selected a bridesmaid dress for me which is quite light in colour. My skin is very pale so she wants me to get a fake tan for the wedding. My DH is adamant that I should NOT get a fake tan because he considers it to be harmful to our TTC chances. He believes the chemicals will be absorbed by my skin and will linger in the body for years. I was planning to use a cream rather than getting a spray tan.
Do any of you know of any safety concerns or do you have any information that could put his mind at ease? If there is any risk I'd prefer not to do it, but if there's no risk I'd rather look a little better in my dress.
Thanks.

Hi Juniper,
I don't know of any definite safety concerns, but personally I wouldn't do it. All those chemicals in it will be absorbed by the skin and I wouldn't be taking any risk, even with using the cream. I'm pretty fair skinned too and TBH I'd rather look like a ghost LOL than do my chances any harm.
All the best :)

Could you use a tinted moisturiser tanner? i think Dove makes one where its more like a moisturiser than a tan (but obviously has some tanning pigments). I'm no expert but i wouldnt think that one spray tan will ruin your chances of ttc, i mean there are far worse things out there that you come in contact with everyday.

I had a spray tan done when I was 12weeks, and the only thing was they required me to wear a face mask to help protect against inhaling the fumes (not that it smelt anyway)
There are also organic based spray tans (which I had), depending on where you get it done, which aren't loaded with all the chemicals...

Natural fake tan!!
Juniper - I may have the answer to all your problems!
Firstly - yes, mainstream tanning creams are full of chemicals that you do not want circulating in your body.
Secondly (the good news) - A company in London called The Organic Pharmacy have pioneered the first ever toxin-free completely natural fake-tanning cream. It uses natural sugar beet to temporarily change the actual pigment of the skin, rather than dying it with toxic chemicals!! I bought a bottle of it when I was in London and it is the ultimate. Downside - its not cheap! Especially when you consider the ratio of pound to aussie dollar.
You can send an email to them on their website to find out cost including postage. They frequently send their products all over the world and they are GORGEOUS!!! They have a few select stockists in Australia that you may want to check out - should be on the website too.
Hope this helps. XX

Hey :)
I had the same issue with my friend when I was 5mths pg. Im very pale and the other 2 bridesmaids and herself all spraytanned but I said nope. Did a couple of coats of natural glow before getting dressed and that took that glare off my pale body:lol:
