Weaning off wraps
I don't know if it's time I weaned DS off being wrapped for sleeps. He is currently being wrapped for all of his sleeps & seems to really need it to get to sleep. He always settles down when he sees he's about to be wrapped up. He can now roll from back to front but hasn't done it when in bed as yet.
The problem is he is constantly getting his hands out of the wrap & taking his dummy out. He isn't able to put it back in, or he drops it & gets really upset. Or he knocks himself in the head & wakes himself up. The other reason is I'm down to just 2 wraps that will semi contain him!! I think they're both 100 x 127cm.
Are these good enough reasons to stop wrapping? So any suggestions on how to go about it?
I have a couple of bags ready for him. Should I put him straight into a bag or wrap him in the bag to get him used to it?
Have no clue!!

You can stop wrapping if you want or keep going, whatever you want to do, there's no rules. Whatever helps him get to sleep and is easiest for you!
We stopped wrapping DD at around 6 months because it was getting way too hot in QLD for it. We firstly wrapped her with one arm out for a few days, then both arms out, and then not at all. Had no problems :)
Good luck!

We stopped wrapping DD for night sleeps at 10 weeks. Tried her in a Grobag AND her cot for the first time and she slept straight through!
We have been struggling with day sleeps again lately so I've gone back to swaddling her and I use a cot sheet - works a treat and really does help to settle her during the day. She's just in a Grobag at night though and has no problems with that at all.
Give him a go in a bag at night and see how he goes. Our DD is a super alert baby and she finds it difficult switching off during the day so swaddling does help with that.
Good luck!

my DD (3 mnths) didnt give me the option! one night she threw up on both of her wraps, i had nothing else to use, so i put her into the grobag and she was just fine! hasnt been wrapped since!

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I'm thinking too much about it, but every little decision seems so momentous when you're a new mum!!

i would stop wrapping when he is rolling definately so he doesnt roll over and cant get off his face.
The startle reflex will start to slow down now he is getting older too.
But i would wrap one arm in and one out then went to a sleeping bag with #1.
No. 2 was a tummy sleeper from birth so no wrapping
Winter will be great for this transistion because a 2.5tog is nice and heavy on their legs and similar feeling to being wrapped.
