Soooo....any other crossword nerds here on BB??

So I'm being brave and fessing up....I love a good crossword. Have done since I was young. My amazing Grandma, who lives in a remote area got me started - we'd go to visit her for weeks on end and I'd watch her relish those clues, words & little squares. Still to this day I find them relaxing, stimulating and a great way to keep extending my vocabulary. I had a real aversion to TV & noise late in my pregnancy so I found myself retreating with my book & pen, to squirrel away, hoping to finish one completely. DP always buys me fresh books for Christmas. I get to do less & less now that DS is here though.

So....anyone else like to share in my love of all things cross-wordy?

Oh I LOVE a crossword! My mum passed on her love of them to me. I find them so relaxing and definitely mentally stimulating. I rarely ever get time to do them these days, but I used to do them daily in our Herald Sun newspaper. I like the cryptic ones too, but only if they have normal clues too LOL!

I have read that older people that do crosswords aren't likely to get Alzheimer's disease :)

Do you have a crossword dictionary? Mine is very worn these days, but I use an online one most of the time now (when I do actually get to do a crossword). I just got an anagram book sent over from the UK to give to my mum to help her with the cryptic crosswords. Her old anagram book got worn to death!

Trish I keep telling myself that if I do all these crosswords now I'll hopefully still have all my marbles when I'm an old lady!! Here's hoping!

I don't get into the cryptic ones though. Some of the clues are just waaaay too abstract for me. I really should try harder though.

And you know, I've never ever used a crossword dictionary either. I must go and have a look in my second-hand bookshop to see what they've got.

At the moment I'm having trouble getting to sleep at night, and half an hour of crosswording seems to be helping so I better go get me a fresh book soon I thinK!

oooh me too! I got it from my mum. She used to read out the clues from when I was really little. I wish I was as clever as her though. She's so good at them.
Funny though she only discovered that there was such a thing as a crossword dictionary the other day. lol she's busting to find one.
